A spoofed "Wells Fargo" number(1-800-6787986) called my cell phone today. The woman was talking pretty fast and wanted to take my mortgage payment over the phone, asking me all kinds of questions. Wells has NEVER call me to do this! The real Wells verified later that no one from this company called my cell phone(so this was an obvious "spoofed" call.). When I refused and said that I'd call THEM back to make my payment tomorrow, she then tried to convince me to make payment TODAY saying that there would be "no fees if I paid it today." Sorry, but I don't know you so that's not happening!

Anyway, she gave us THIS number to call back if we were interested in "refinancing" options(I suppose another number of THEIRS, not really Wells Fargo)since they weren't getting anywhere in taking my mortgage payment over the phone. She obviously knew my address, but was asking if we owned the home? You're the MORTGAGE company and you don't know if I own the home or if it's a single family home? Please! She also needed our home phone number because they only had my cell on file? Huh? Trust me, if I have a MORTGAGE with them, they WILL have this info!-lol. Again, this didn't make sense and I let her know it. She gave me some BS about how different departments may/may not have the same information. We've gotten calls from the real Wells Fargo before, so they KNOW our home phone and address and wouldn't ask questions about a home they gave us a mortgage for!
There is no way I am giving someone my account numbers or financial information over the phone(I don't care if they do claim to be from Wells!). Anyway, I called the Bank right away to warn them that someone is trying to gain access to our(and probably many others)personal and banking information.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL(anything beyond public knowledge. Thieves always can find phone numbers & addresses in the phone book to sound legit.)/FINANCIAL info. If they are truly from Wells, then they should have no issue with YOU calling the bank back to verify or your make payments. Never be pressured into doing it over the phone when THEY call you. It's a SCAM!!!

Similar to above, someone called on another number and gave this one as their callback.  Claimed to be a mortgage consultant from Wells Fargo.
