That person will never see your response since they posted 10 years ago. And just because this is a legitimate number for you doesn't mean it is for everyone who gets a call from it. Scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time.
By the way, do you often look up phone numbers when you already know to whom they belong?

This is a good number. Here is what scammers do. They can put any number on your caller ID that they want to. I know because I did know where they do it from in order to catch someone.  I had an Electronic Sales Business and I could get it if I needed it.
The best thing is do not give out any information unless you know who you are calling.
I never give out info if someone calls me.

Been getting calls from the number for 2 weeks. Always a different caller. They never state the reason for the call and only want me to call back. Googled penfed credit union and called their main line. Penfed said this is likely fraud.

This may or may not be true but it is VERY VERY strange that a financial company (catering to veterans, no less) would leave such a strange message.  At best this enables other fraudsters to just demand callbacks.  At worst, this is still a fraud.  PenFed needs to figure out a better way than setting up automated callers that ask for call backs.

I had someone to bring me a notice which was put on my door knob.  It said for me to call Pentagon Federal which is one of my banks. I had my identity stolen so now I don’t know who this is. The number that they told me to call was 800-451-7269.

Before I got this message, PenFed gave me the following instructions:
So, I called PENFED (pentagon Federal, I guess) and they told me that they were senfig me a form to get notarized  and give them a password.  From that point, no one from PENFED could or would talk to  me.  This was for my protection since my identity had been stolen.
Then, I get a message from this guy that comes to me like they don’t have a telephone to call me so they send me a message by “Pony Expresd”.
This is so  weird that I would get a message to call PenFed after they told me that no one could or would talk to me unless I sent in the password notarized. After they got my password, I had to know my password for them to talk to me.
This is the 2nd time that this has happened. I did not call the number that they sent me to call but I called the one that I knew was PenFed,
I mentioned the other number and I think they told me it was the collection department but I am not sure because the lady had a little doubt who it was herself by the tone of her voice.
I will follow up on this because no one from PenFed is supposed to talk to me unless I sent the password and used it to speak to anyone.
It sounds like this is a spam call or whatever it is called when someone is not who they say that they are.

In my case, this was a legit call from PenFed.  Instead of calling the number on the recording, I called a known valid number for PenFed, just to ensure that I was calling the real credit union.  When I got to an agent, there was indeed an issue with an account that needed to be rectified.

Just got a voice mail from this number telling me it's Pentagon Federal and to call them back at this number. I called the main PenFed number 1 800-247-5626 and (1) I don't have any issues and (2) they have no idea what about the number 800-451-7269.

So, anybody telling you that this isn't a scam is probably a scammer. It's a scam.

Received a call on my cell phone from 800-451-7269 and caller ID said it was Pentagon Federal Credit Union.  However, I did not answer since this is not the number I'm familiar with. An automated message said I should call the number back.  Instead I called the Pentagon Federal Credit Union regular number 1-800-247-5626 and asked about my account and the 800-451-7269 number.  The person I spoke to said someone from Pen Fed was trying to reach me about my credit card payment but wasn't sure if the 800-451-7269 was legit or not.  The rep I spoke to said that there are various departments and they all have different 800 numbers and he didn't know them all.  If you get a call from  800-451-7269 I would recommend calling the regular Pen Fed number just to make sure your account(s) are all good.

It's a legitimate number for Pentagon Federal Credit Union collections.  They may have had your number mistakenly listed for one of their members.
