Got an Amazon e-mail alert that someone was attempting to change my password. I called it and the young lady with a foreign accent said I needed to go to a website and enter some numbers. I told her she was a scammer,and she denied it. The e-mail address was not Amazon. I reported it as a phishing scam.

The same with me I called them back from my phone, they wanted go to my computer, I called Amazon , found out, it is scam.

I have reported this to amazon as a scam email.  The number was listed in an email to call and report an un-authorised log-in.  It says you should call this number and give them the code listed and your email address !!  I have recently been involved with a company on amazon that behaved strangely and amazon refunded me but not before Amazon customer service sent them a confirmation of my address and email (which I did not want to do) !!!  I wonder if it is connected?

I had experience same issue.

Same email, with a code and instructions. I checked the number first-----nothing to do with Amazon ----plus, serviceperson had a heavy asian accent. I never call a number from an email without checking it's validity first ----THIS IS 100% PHONY

100% SCAM-They are East Indian thieves- don’t do anything they say and tell them Indian Police are on the hunt for them to arrest all of them

I had a similar situation. It was not a phone call, but I think I should post this somewhere to alert others. Woke up yesterday and found 6 (!) emails in my inbox with an Amazon.in address. Each email contained a new verification code. There was no number to call, so I'm not too sure what this was about. I got concerned that my Amazon account had been hacked or that I had malware on my computer. So, I did  an email and password change on my Amazon account and downloaded a different anti-virus program (malwarebytes) than the one I had been using. The scan found some suspicious programs which I quarantined.

Scam attempt pretending to want to renew an account that I don't have and never heard of for $299.00. I hung up after I told the foreign voice that answered they would be reported for the scam. The phone number was contained in a text sent to me.

Got a message (multiple) at 3 am saying "Password change attempt from (area I entered in amazon for my package). Tap link to respond." I (very stupidly) clicked the link, it had the "amazon" and everything and gave me the device that the password of my account had been supposedly attempted to be changed from, and a "deny" or "accept" option. of course I clicked deny, and went to change my amazon password then deleted my amazon account. I'm not sure if anyone else had this exact one, but I'm not sure what else to do. it didn't have me fill out any personal info, just wanted me to accept or deny the person attempting to change password, i have sent an E-mail to amazon and a screen shot incase. i blocked the number it was sent from (78000), I'm not sure if the link or anything had anything malicious but I'm sill scared, im monitoring everything closely. has anyone else had the same experience? I found only one person that also had this happen to aswell, and little help.
