A man (with Latino accent) called and told us ( a non-profit organization) that he was going to turn off our power within 1 hour.  I asked for reason but he said he was just a technician.  This is the number he gave me to call (1-800-477-0970 ext 2) for any inquiries.  I called and they asked for my account number.  Of course, I did not give them my account but asked for the reason, duration, area of affection of the power disconnect.  They only could said - no payment.  That is a SCAM!!!.  We paid every single month, so I hang up.  NO POWER DISCONNECTION AT ALL.... SCAM!!! Do not bother talking to them.

Thanks so much for posting!  I just received a similar call and was suspicious.  It just didn't sound right to me.

This is the well known "utility scam" . All you need do is get your bill out and call the number on the bill and ask them.  Utilities never call asking for payment immediately by some sort of money card like iTunes or Greendot.

Same call, same accent, name Peter Technician 105. He had an order to disconnect at 12:30. I kept asking him questions, he did have the address correct and name of business. He could not give me account number and told me that I needed to call the "billing dept." at (800) 477-0970 ext 3
