- denles| 10 repliesI just got a letter from AE Outfitters, Inc. GE Capitol Retail Band Creditor with that number asking me to call. Interesting, as I don't have an account there and have never applied for an American Eagle Outfitters credit card.(I am assuming it is the credit card for American Eagle Outfitters(AEO Credit)
- jela| 1 replyMy letter was from LOWE'S/GE Capital Retail Bank Creditor, asking me to call same ph#. I have no account at Lowes and have never applied for one.
- Tim 13| 3 repliesIt's a credit servicers line. They called me today to confirm my application of a card I made yesterday. For security reasons, I won't say what card it was that I applied for, but I can tell you that this company, like the companies of the two posters before me, uses GE Creditors as the card's distributor.
Don't worry, guys, there's no security threat if they're asking you to call that number. It's just GE. But, at the same time, you may try to look into what prompted those letters to be mailed to your house about an account that did not exist.- Caller: GE
- did you check them out` replies to Tim 13GEMB is not very good at dealing with accounts. If you google GEMB SCAM - you will find hundreds of complaints about their credit services.. I know for a fact that they SCREW you as the conveniently removed my mailing address from their records and at the same allowed fraud charges to be posted against it. no calls at all - Only way I found out that a rarely used dept store credit card with a 0 balance was in default was when a collection agency called. Could not produce a signed receipt for these charges - so falsely claimed I bought a gift card via the website -
Filed a complaint with the Office of Thrift supervision and GEMB was required to admit /correct their mistakes, remove the account from collections, correct credit rating and remove the fraudulent charges.
Needless to say I do not do business with them anymore - trickyLowes, GE Capital retail bank, creditor sent a letter asking for more info to process a Lowes application. THEY knew the last 4 and my lic number and read them to me! later, I found this info is available to outfits like GE for a fee. My bank is locking up the Big Three reporting agencies to prevent them from giving out info without a password from me.

- Tim| 8 repliesJust received a letter from AMAZON.COM STORE CRD, GE Capital Retail Bank, Creditor, PO Box 965002 saying i made a credit application with AMAZON.COM STORE CRD. And the letter asked me to call back on 800-480-0186 since they require more information. I did NOT make a credit application for an Amazon.com retail credit card. They even had the nerve to sign off the letter as from the Fraud Prevention Department of GE Capital Retail Bank. This is the second unsolicited credit card in the last week...first one was from Chase re: an Expedia.com pass card -- they would not even cancel the account they set up (without my authorization) until i got the actual cards from them with the new account number. This Amazon.com card letter may also be Chase. What gives...i am going to complain to someone...just don't know who yet.

- heatherBoth me and my husband had our personal information stolen. There are several cards that are being attempted to open in our name. This is the number that calls (or number on the letter you received) if you have opened a credit card from a number of stores. If you have not opened an acct, then I would definitely call the store and have them transfer you to the fraud department and have the application declined.

- D. WhitakerI received a letter from GE Capital Retail Bank,Creditor, in Orlando, Fl. Requesting that I contact them for additional information regarding my request for a credit application to Amazon, com. Sorry, I've never applied for an application for credit for Amazon.com. Obviously, this is another scam. Their phone number is 1-800-480-0186.
I will be referring this letter to the Consumer Fraud Dept. - Tiffany| 1 replyI received a letter from Walmart to call 1-800-480-0186 for additional information regarding my credit application. I can not stress enough that you take this very seriously. My identity was stolen last week. By paying attention to this letter I was able to stop the credit application.
- Peter E| 8 repliesI received letter from Paypal, Synchrony Bank. Requesting that I contact them for additional information regarding my request for a credit application . I called and stated my concern about the letter. I asked the rep what am I was applying for and after a pause she said a Paypal account. I told her I already have a Paypal account. She then told me I might be a victim of attempted fraud and someone else use my info. She asked me for my full social security number to inform the credit bureaus that I did not apply for a credit card. I sternly said no.
I contacted Paypal and they have no record. - jeff watzelReceived letter telling me to call this number

- Sue| 1 replyMy husband called 800-480-0186 number because he got a letter saying he applied for credit with WALMART. Naively my husband gave his SS# & DOB. What can we do? I feel he got trapped in a scam.
- Caller: 800-480-0186
- Sue replies to TiffanyMy husband gave his SS# & date of birth. I'm worried we got scammed. What can I do?
- Mike-in-MD replies to SueContact the three credit bureaus and put fraud alerts on your social security number. You may also want to add a password so that no new credit can be opened in his name without that password. Keep a close eye you your credit card and bank accounts for any signs of fraud. If you have not yet filed your taxes, contract both the IRS and the state tax office to alert them of possible fraud.
- katyogrady replies to Tim| 3 repliesMy letter was from WALMART - Synchrony Bank, Creditor but using the same phone number (800) 480-0186 & PO Box.
