Received a private call from Firefighters Support Foundation (we thought)and made a pledge.  A statement arrived with Firefighters Support Foundation logos (professional statement)and listed this phone number 1-800-493-9550 (Ref.JM 19 Oct. 2007 about this 800 number).  The direction on the letter has you make your check out to FSF and the mailling address is PO Box 66998 Phoenix AZ 85082.  The website for Firefighters Support Foundation has a different address to send the donation to.

Charitible contributions for the US Deputy Sheriff's Assn.  Believe it to be a scam as the "families of fallen officers" does not appear on the USDSA web site, but rather they are donating equipment to sheriff's offices around the country.  Will not be sending in the donation.

How To Stop These Calls
1) Contact your State's Attorney's General's Office, Charity Division.
2) Request help dealing with Commercial Fundraiser(s), and Charities harassing you.
3) You will need Both the Commercial Fundraiser's and Charity's contact information, name, address, and phone number. <Provided below>
4) Request the AG formally request these charities, do not contact you, and do not sell/trade/transmit your personal information.

Wait 1 month, if they continue to call, contact the AG’s office again, and request further assistance.

If you know the charity’s name and I will post their contact information: Name, address, phone # of both the Commercial Fundraiser(s), and the Charity Associated. That you will need in order for the AG's office to take action.

I only check these every few months, so feel free to look them up your self. The Secretary of State of Washington state's charity search website: http://www.sos.wa.gov/charities/search.aspx You could also try www.CharityNavigator.org

The Firefighters Support Foundation is one HUGE SCAM. They are like a pack of relentless vultures. They have bedeviled me with calls morning, noon, night, and weekends, although now it's dwindled off just a little. Not only were they calling me, but I was getting called and harrassed by other so-called and undoubtedly PHONY law enforcement organizations. I would bet that all of these calls are originating from the very same office and that they are just using different names. I just got another call this morning around 9 am. They said "is this so and so?" and asked for me by name. I NEVER EVER tell these vultures my name. I always say "who's calling," and this morning I had to repeat "who's calling" three times. This is not the first time that I've had to repeat myself like this. They said it was a "courtesy call" and hung up. It's not the first time they've handed me the "courtesy call" crap. Recently I phoned my state Attorney General's office to find out the procedure for reporting phone scams. Right now I'm closely monitoring the situation and keeping a written log on the calls, and if the calls escalate again, I'll do a complaint and SCREW these scammers.

They aren't helping any fire fighters. They are filling up their own pockets. Such crooks should be jailed for a long time.

Sent a statement to my 82 year old mom for $15. Jail would be too good for these thieves.

Get calls form FSF on a quarterly basis, wanting contributions.  My husband can't say no!  Yes is the only way he gets them off the phone.  We donated in the Fall of 2012 (November) and now here it is April and calls are coming again.  And they aren't the only ones. Association for Deputy Sheriffs do it as well.

I received those calls also, and last week, I decided to make a donation because, after all they protect us during those critical moments. I did accepted to help. Few days later, I received the confirmation letter asking to send the money I promised by phone. The thing is I run out the check, so I decided to go and pay directly to their site. Surprise! The addresses are different. Ok, I went to goggle and see if the system will show me the address on the mail to be able to process my donation. That is where I found this posts about scams. Oh my! The address is: Firefighters Support Foundation - PO BOX 250900 - MILWAUKEE WI 53225-6516.

 These folks called a few weeks ago and asked for a contribution. I agreed to send one.  I usually check to make sure it isn't a scam before agreeing. It will be a cold day in hell before they get any money out of me.  Screw them.

Ask to be removed from all of Outreach Callings list or you will contact the attorney general. It is the only way to remove you from all the lists. If you do not do it this way and only ask to be removed from the list they will take you off one list but keep you on all the rest.

This so-called "Charity" continues to call my elderly mother, talking her into a donation and getting her credit card info.  They say you've given before can we count on you again.  I have reversed the charges every time, and requested that they put her on a do-not-call list, but they persist in calling.  When you call the number provided by the company for "customer service", 1-734-785-9556, you are put on hold forever, and if you happen to wait it out, you are put through to a voice mailbox.  I have called several times, and no one has EVER actually answered or returned my message.  I have sent them an email to ffssinc@gmail.com    I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  A quick google search will show that this is no "charity" at all.  6 of the 7million dollars they raised last year go to pay for fundraising.  Bogus nonsense!

I received a call from Firefighters Support Foundation at 1-800-608-0258.  Does the different number make it okay or is this a scam too.

I did the same.  The return address is in Milwaukee, Wisconson. I looked them up and every Firefighters Support Foundation listed had a bad rating - not much of the donations are used for the actual cause.  None were listed for Milwaukee.  I hesitate to support something that doesn't actually do what they said they do.

I also received a call from these [***], from the sound of it there an East Coast Scam ring, Probably Eating Chicken Parm sandwiches laughing all the way to there greasy Italian Joint !! Well guess what, I never sent them a dime as they sounded very shady on the phone, If they say " are you sure the $ 50 donation is not too much for you" hang up on johnnie or vinny !! drop dead you phony [***]!! Wish I could get my hands on them !! Legit firefighters should beat the piss out of these BUMS !!

Firefighters Support Foundation is a crap "charity"  that spends less than 3 percent of the money donated on its stated purpose, which is making very poorly produced training videos. Ninety percent of the money raised goes to professional fundraising companies. Seven percent of the money goes to the two couples who run this and the equally scammy Disabled Police and Sheriff's Foundation.  The DPSF is so bad they made the list of the country's 50 worst charities a few years ago. The  IRS forms for the two groups indicates they haven't gotten any better.  The reason for the discrepancy between the "charity" address and the mailing address is simple, the mailing address is for the telemarketers doing the calls. They skim 90 percent of what is donated and send what's left to the charity.
