    You can try restoring windows to an earlier date before this started happening. Check here for instructions on how to do that;

    https://www.howtogeek.com/131916/how-to-use-t ... ows-8-computer/

    Despite the name in the URL is has instructions for doing this in Windows
    8 & 10.

    If you are unable to do this yourself, you will have to take her laptop to a local shop for help. In the meantime, power it down so the scammers cannot continue to access it.

    I consistently get calls from this number that I don't answer. Today I called it back to see who/what it is. A man calling himself "John Williams" identified himself as a tech with Microsoft & that he had been trying to get ahold of me because they had received messages from my laptop that someone has been trying to hack into it. He directed me to a website: 1234computer.com and download it. A file named "SUPREMO" downloaded to my laptop. Just as I was about to hit "Run" a huge yellow exclamation point popped up on my screen with a message saying that there have been reports that this program was being used by people who have impersonated Microsoft techs trying to scam people to get their info. It also said that no one from Microsoft would contact anyone in this manner and that they were frauds. I immediately hung up and removed the program from my laptop. BEWARE OF PEOPLE SPEAKING WITH AN INDIAN ACCENT CALLING FROM THIS NUMBER! Better yet, don't answer!!

    Yes, John Williams with an Indian accent called me as well today.  Called me on my cell phone saying my desk phone wasn't working.  I had an earlier tech issue and called our internal support team in the UK and this John Williams called me in the afternoon in-personating a Sr. Support person from our IT Tech Support in the UK following up our my earlier support call and asked if I was checking my email from Mexico over the holiday break.  Said he needed to shut down my email if I didn't do what he requested on my laptop.  I could tell it was a fraud call and called his bluff.  I did not do as he requested and contacted my local IT support team.  They said it was a fraud and I did the right thing.  Do not take these calls, they are hackers.

    A man calling himself "Edward" called me TWICE today, claiming to be from Microsoft.  This place has been calling me at least 5X weekly for months.  Nothing I tell them stops them.  I have become very abusive to them, and they ignore even the abuse, and keep calling.  I
    don't know what to do about the harassment.

    I, too, have had many calls from this #:  NO CALLER ID.  If TX Atty' General's office is closing them down:  they'd better hop to it:  this is MAY 9 - 2018 and these scumbags are still at it.  Never leave message, natch.

    This number popped up on my dad's computer after it crashed so he called it because it was supposed to be Microsoft. The guy Max talked my dad into paying him $200 to fix his computer by way of a Google Play account.  He worked with my dad over the phone for 3 hours but his computer is still not working.This guy then called my dad to say that  he could not redeem the google gift card and since he paid $200 to purchase them he would send my dad a check for $200 and that would allow my dad to give him another $200 worth of Google Gift Cards.  At this point I knew he was scammed so I check the code numbers on Google Play and the cards were redeemed of course by the hacker!!  I am contacting the attorney general.  This needs to stop

    Yes ofc it is!! A few years ago my dad made the mistake of actually believing these scammers who are all part of the same conglomerate... They have so many numbers, so many.... Too many to count, and they keep getting more, it's easy to scam numbers these days... and he even let them in his computer at one point even though I begged him NOT to and then what they do is say oh it has a virus and will you need to pay $700 or more so we can fix it, but the ironic part is THEIR program is the virus!!!! Malware so that they can hack into your computer and get whatever information they want... so he thought it was legit at one point in even signed up for the service and then they kept calling and calling and calling for ever and ever "well your service is still good until such-and-such time...." But they kept calling even when the service was supposedly done.... That was some years ago now and they are STILL calling. He also made the mistake of engaging with them which you're not supposed to do.... Just supposed to ignore them or block them.... But he refuses to pay a* little extra* to have s blocking feature put on the phone... my guess is most people block them and ignore them but the if they have a record of any calls it went through or any service that they got done they will not stop.... Like ever it seems!! I'm going through some voicemail messages now and it's so frustrating....

    Sorry don't mean to pinpoint your reply I just happened to see it first...

    No I don't believe you are making it up... I perfectly believe it that it is happening... Hackers can do things like that... And the bad ones have no conscience whatsoever so do things like that...

    Peter Williams, and Indian man still continues to call me. I will not fall for his tricks. I told him today that you aren't going to get one penny out of me, so why do you continue to call me.  He tries to strike up a conversation, but I just hang up. The feature for Century Link is too complicated to block the numbers as there are so many of them. And, you have to pay for the feature on your telephone. I have so many different numbers, and some are from back East which is a 3 hour difference. So that start waking me up at 6:00 AM. I am retired and just had both hip replacements. I do not need this intrusion.

    Mr. J
    Just got a call from this number, but did not answer it.  No message on the recorder, so I hit the BLOCK button on my caller ID device.  Anymore, if I don't recognize a number, I don't pick up.  If they don't leave a message, they get the BLOCK button.  If they do leave one that sounds suspicious, like the IRS is after me, they get the BLOCK button.  Same with my cell phone.

    They keep calling me also.  I'll either ask them "which one?"  (I have 3 -1 for my business and 2 laptops for personal stuff).  Or I;ll tell them they are liars because I don't have any computers.  Both responses usually shut them up and they stop calling for a few months until they spoof a new number, then it starts all over again. Frustrating? Indeed!
