According to another post on Google, the number 800-516-9829 is a scam to obtain money. Now I would like to add mine as an attempt to obtain access to my bank account. BEFORE I could enter my ID to my bank account, a message appeared on the screen that the "bank" did not recognize my ID and that I should enter a provided # for access and call 800-516-9829. Many virus, one of which was "bank ID" were referenced for my viewing. After exiting the bank website, I called the above # and heard a man who refused to identify himself other than Microsoft and who refused to explain why he had called. However, if I had used his provided number to gain access to my account, we would be talking about a scam to gain access to my bank account. The mystery is How did he gain access to my computer and advance himself as far as he did?

Had a white paper on my screen, blue screen behind it with a BOPD,could not get my screen released, so I called  the     1-800- 516-9829.....she said she was Windows support team  and I needed new drivers if I let the Trojan virus stay on  my computer.. I called her out and she actually was insulted by me telling her that she was the one with the White Page Alert Web Team.   Gave no info to her and no $199.99  money to fix my problem, she claimed I was accusing her of being illegal and also my computer would turn into a blank screen. Told her I would take my problem to Staples, she hung-up, my screen was released. At the start of my conversation I did think it was  Windows Support, but I am thinking if you are support why did you send me this paper, why  send a phone # 1-800-516-9829

I got a pop up message that claimed my computer was infected with a virus and to call 1-800-516-9829. They claimed to be Microsoft tech support and said they could protect my computer for $200 dollars. They furnished a page to enter my checking account routing number and check number. I told them that I do not give out my banking information on the internet. They claimed the page had SSL encryption and was secure. I told them no. They wanted to argue with me. I hung up and then I disconnected from the internet and restarted my computer off-line and ran a MacAfee scan. Then I connected to the internet and ran another MacAfee scan and everything was o.k. The warning pop up disappeared.

I got the same call on Wed.night.  Only I did what he said until he asked me to read the 4 digit password back to him.  I refused and he was angry with me.

Got to you via a web page with malware on it. That's what put in the pop-up messages as well. If 'he' got your phone number and you didn't enter it, it was harvested from forms you filled in on your browser that the browser kept info on (Need to clear things often).

On windows, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete get the task manager and look for odd task names (to kill) or reboot the system. Either should clear it for now, but you need to check the system for malware. Best by booting off a USB stick or CD/DVD then checking the main hard drive (UBCD or sysrcd or alike) for virus and malware.
