I can see caller ID saying "800Service" and ignored it for awhile.  When they started calling first my home # and then my home office # - I decided to answer.  They said they wanted to talk to Patricia XXX and I said yes that is me.  They then said I called them about a mortgage.  I know I've called no one about a mortgage so I said "you are calling my business line and I have not called anyone about a mortgage".  She says "yes you did".  And I said "sorry?  no - I did not".  She said "oh yes you did".  I said "no - and don't ever call her again!".  Too bad these new phones don't let you slam the phone down anymore...

As the real owner of this number, I can assure you that it is not me calling & have been a victim of spoofing.  The crooks block their true identity by using numbers of legitimate, honest & reputable companies/people.  Thank you for bringing this to my attention.  A complaint has been filed with the FCC.

"Spoofing" occurs when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information so it can be used in fraudulent activity or sold illegally. U.S. law and FCC rules prohibit most types of spoofing.

Caller ID lets consumers avoid unwanted phone calls by displaying caller names and phone numbers, but the caller ID feature is sometimes manipulated by spoofers who masquerade as representatives of banks, creditors, insurance companies, or even the government."

As instructed by the FCC, if you actually speak to someone that calls from this number... GET THE NAME OF THE COMPANY & WHAT THEY ARE SELLING/CALLING FOR.  The best way to stop them is to file a complaint.  If you receive a call from this number, it is SPOOFING as I am the true owner & did not make the call.  Please report it because as of now there is nothing I can do to stop it because it is not illegal for them to do this.  People who receive the call must report the company name to make it stop.  Please report at to FCC.gov or DoNotCall.gov.

What is the name of your company so we know who to actually accept calls from If we receive one? We also don't want to report the wrong company, which we could do if we don't know who the right company is.

    Hi Tygerkat

I am a bit puzzled by these two quotes by "The Real Owner":

" U.S. law and FCC rules prohibit most types of spoofing."
    and
" it is not illegal for them to do this. "

    The Real Owner -

Perhaps, in addition to identifying your company, you could clarify your two, opposing statements.

Good catch there, Slim. I missed that.
Of course, we both know that even if "The Real Oener" actually returns he/she isn't going to answer our questions but will instead talk around them or have reasons why they can't/won't answer.

I understand your puzzlement.  Those statements came directly from the FCC when I spoke with them.  I couldn't understand it either but she said at this time they couldn't do anything because they don't know who the people are & they best way to deal with it is to report who is calling & not just the number as most of them are fake.  Without the company name of the person contacting you, there is no way they can make it stop unless they know who to stop.  It is irritating & frustrating as it makes me look bad.  You will never get a call from me as the our small family business no longer exists.  This number was used for faxes & for our customers to contact us toll free.  Calls are never made from this number.  It belonged to my deceased mother's company & the business is closed.  I have maintained the number for old clients to contact me in case they need their old records & so I can continue to receive faxes.

Yes I've returned but have better things to do than argue.  The statements were copied & pasted directly from the response I received from the FCC.  Please feel free to argue with the FCC as you will save me a lot of time & frustration in dealing with them myself as I am livid someone has taken advantage of me as well as my mother.  I was disabled several years ago in a wreck so I have better things to do than return.  Life is too short & too difficult as it is.  She died & can't defend herself...and definitely not returning to feed your negativity.  I was trying to do a nice thing by passing on the information from the FCC so we can report the true criminals & make this stop.  I don't think she even owned the number at the time the original complaints were filed.  I came on here to defend it & let people know how to report it.  Arguments & posts on here are a waste of time.  Reporting it to the proper authorities with the proper information is the only way to stop it.

I was right. "The real owner" returned but gave many excuses instead of the actual requested  information.

But yet, here you are 5 months later to present an argument, a pointless one with no useful information about who is calling or who to report. How does anyone KNOW whether its you scam calling or if your a victim? All you have done here is post a lot of "hot air" that doesn't amount to anything. Trollbie....
