- Way too smart for you replies to DAVID P| 1 replyI do think that some people don't pay their bills but as for the rest of us, We pay our bills. It's not our fault that there are some people that are too lazy to go out and get a job and that they have nothing better to do than harrass hard working people. So until there comes a day that someone comes to you and demands money that you money that either you don't owe or that you settled, keep you opinon to yourself!!
- anon replies to dontgotherethis is exactly what happened to me - i called my phone company and there is a process by which you can report the offending caller and the phone company has to by law send them a cease and desist letter directly to the phone provider of the harrasser. much easier this way - the phone cos. have a system to work it out and you will no longer get the calls. Tell your phone company - also, set it up on your phone service so you don't receive incoming calls that are blocked - this way, they have to release their phone number to your caller ID and you can report it a lot easier.

- JPCSaid they are being allowed to take 10 or 11 cents (can't remember if it was 10 0r 11) on the dollar to clear up reposessions. The man was very nice and kind. I called back a few days later and said we just really could not pay but about $250 down. He then told me my payments would be over $300 for 6 months. He then wanted to know how much of our income tax we had since I had told him I would see if I could pay anything. That is when I told him I might be able to do $250. I finally told him I could not pay that much a month. I offered $150, of course that was not acceptable. I talked with my banker and he said I needed to check the company out. I did and that is how I found this site. I called them back to ask where they were located and they would not give me any information, not even the state. Just wanted to give this information in case it can help anyone.

- david p replies to Way too smart for youtoo smart for you??? sound more like too dumb for a rock. PEOLE THAT DONT PAY THEIR BILLS KEEP THE COLLECTION INDUSTRY ALIVE!!!! Until people learn to live within their means, or stop trying to front like they are rich, with their high interest overpriced car loans and shopping sprees on credit card they cannot afford thing will not change. Again STOP BLAMING PEOPLE FOR YOUR LACK OF SENSE AND PAY YOUR BILLS!!!! IF YOU CANT PAY DONT BORROW!!!!
- DAVID P replies to Way too smart for you| 2 replieshow full of crap are you????? you cant afford to pay a $2900 settlement but you can afford an attorney?? YEAH RIGHT!!!! the only scammer is your deadbeat husband for paying his bills. It doesnt matter if the debt is from a previous marrige dumbass, YOU SIGN YOU OWE, plain and simple.
- Billpayer!!| 2 repliesHere are four simple words I once heard from a wiseman-
Pay bills, no calls!!- Caller: NONE
- Try a little compassion replies to DAVID PYou know, some people dont pay their bills, thats right. And some people are not educated enough to understand all of the fine print that comes along with borrowing money from a bank, credit card company or other lender. However, it would serve us all better to stop throwing stones at each other and try to be a little more compassionate for those less fortunate. That doesn't mean to excuse people from their responsibilities but to try to put ourselves in another person's shoes. You may find yourself in an unfortunate situation one day with a nasty creditor calling you asking for money that you dont have. Perhaps their child is sick and they chose to pay for medical treatment instead of their Hummer, or maybe they are taking care of a sick relative or have become disabled or perhaps, that government that you speak of that regulates your industry has tossed them asside after faithful service to their country. There are many reasons for one not paying their bills. Sometimes people are lazy and other times they have legitimae reasons. So next time before you call everyone lazy or stupid or illiterate, try to have a little compassion. And it is a well known fact that the elderly get scammed on a regular basis and taken for their life savings so maybe you should look at your magic 8 ball for your information and let us alone that still trust our Cracker Jack box.
- CRAIG replies to DAVID P| 1 replyMY GUESS IS YOU ARE FROM THE COMPANY HARRASSING ALL OF THESE PEOPLE. YOU SHOULD NOTE THAT YOU ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE FTC FOR UNFAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES.

- SOMEONE WHOM PAYS BILLS replies to nootkabear| 3 replieshow come the only people who claim to be getting harrassed are the ones who pay none of their creditors?? was it harrassment when you borrowed the money?? they need to bring debtors jail back and maybe people would stop STEALING from the banks and causing intrest rates to go up and up. do the math MORONS, the less you pay now the more WE ALL PAY in intrest in the future. if you can pay DONT BORROW. and by the way if you dirtbags took as much time and effort paying your bills, as you do making excuses or looking for a way to get out of paying by playing your debtor games, maybe, just maybe you wouldnt receive the calls...stop making ezxcuses and PAY YOUR BILLS
- A BILL PAYER replies to obob| 1 replyPAY YOUR BILLS AND THEY WON'T CALL
- WALK IN OTHER SHOES replies to SOMEONE WHOM PAYS BILLSHow can you write something so mean, do you know the circumstances? People all over are losing their jobs, getting hours cut ect...They are trying to do what they can to keep a roof over their head and food on the table. I'm sure when they took out loans and credit cards they were able to make thier payments on time. I have had seen so many people lose everthing that you writing something like this makes me sick to my stomach.
What if the person had a sick child and thousands in medical so they can't pay a small credit card bill, watch what you say because one day you could be in the same circumstances hoping someone would understand. - IDIOTS1 : to address the "what if i had sick rltvs and cant pay bills etc." you could have called your creditor like a normal person, theyd have worked with you...instead you hid from your debt like a little [***] and now its back to bite you in the ass.
2 : "i paid this already"...no you didnt, if you would just provide real proof we'd take care of it...do it all day long.
3 : "howd they get my rltvs info?" thats what we do... you hide from bills we find you. its completely legal, sorry. move to texas like the other deadbeats.
4 : "telemarketers" haha thats funny...telemarketers are lame. we serve a GREAT purpose, just ask our clients.
5: "wont tell me what this is about on my answering machine" guess what, its illegal, contact your congressmen. thank all the deadbeats before you.
6: "contacted my work" you bet we did, until your boss tell us we cant call we'll call once a day until you man up.
just stop lying to the bill collectors, stop training your kids to be little debtors, its adult time people...stealing is wrong. also people that say "have a blessed day" or "god bless" never ever ever pay...jesus loves all his little deadbeats :)- Caller: ARM
- Bill Payer.. replies to Jeff| 5 replieshere's the bottom line, PAY YOUR BILLS!! if you cant pay, DONT BORROW!! and by the way charged-off DOES NOT MEAN YOU DONT OWE THE MONEY, it means the bank no longer carries the loan as an active account, but you still owe. And no retail installment contract has any clause saying that if go off to to be a missionary and leave your life and responsibilities here at home, that any part of the debt will be forgiven or excused. Stop blaming the banks for you not reading what you sign, or because some salesperson lied to you. People in this country want to blame everyone but themselves for their problems. Take a look in the mirror. You are the only person who can say yes or no to getting yourself into debt. Not the bank, not the collectors hired by the bank to remind you to pay back your obligations, only you. SO STOP CRYING ABOUT HOW MEAN COLLECTORS ARE. Another sorry excuse you need to stop using is that creditors ruin credit. YOU RUIN YOUR OWN CREDIT by borroing and not paying back. Cars get repoed becuase YOU dont make the payments, not because the bank doesnt like you. GROW UP and deal with your issues. And dont belittle the collection industry because without people who borrow and dont pay back, LIKE YOU, there would be no need for us to call and demand money.
- Fed Up| 1 replyThis Alternative Recovery people called me to saying Lost Valley was suing me and actiing like I already knew this and supposedly talked to someone in their office already.
The truth about my debt is, yes, I stopped paying them when I could not get out of contract for bait and switch of their crappy, mold infested "resort" I tried to sell the membership and no one would buy it. Don't blame them.
We had problems with these people from day 2. Day one was wonderful as they high pressured sold you into this with thier lies about how wonderful the place is. When we stayed over night the first time was when enough was enough. The trailers they put you in are broke down, have mold. and they don't care. The first trailer ok, it was a fluke. But after several the same way or worse, I know they don't maintain the place like they say. And you pay so much to be there.
Back to this collection agency, Jennifer called and said all I do is rack up debt and file BK, that she saw my credit profile, is really ignorant. She knows nothing of my situation. You try to tell her and she starts yelling at you cutting you off. So I yelled back!
There are lots of reasons people get behind. Not everyone is a deadbeat. I went from paying all my bills on time to in 6 months losing 66% of my income and my home to a natural disaster. So it's not like I don't want to pay. I did pay on this place even though I was so unhappy until I found out how nasty they really are. The credit manager there is the one who suggested I stop paying anyway after we complained about the mold.- Caller: Alternative Recovery
- TG| 4 repliesPeople could probably pay their bills if the credit card companies weren't anything more than legalized loan sharks. The interest rates and fees charged by them are just like the leg breakers charge and if these collection agency people thought they could get away with it they would probably break legs too. Tell them like I tell them "since you have all my information and don't seem to want to take me to court why don't you come by in person and try to collect". Also if you tell them to quit calling and take you to court(documenting time, date and individual you tell preferably by recording said conversation) and then they continue to call, you can be relieved of the debt and in fact, according to the laws in some states, sue them for harassment
