    Got a letter in the mail stating I owe $710 to NY State Dept. of Labor. I called number and it was clearly a scam.

    Got a letter saying its NYS Unemployment Claims Service Subsection with the number 800-533-6600 stating I owe money. I know I don't so is this a scam?

    They might be spoofing that number.   I'd go to one of the brick and motor offices  in NY State and check it out.

    I received a letter saying I owed $1750 to the New York Labor Dept. and to call them. I haven't even lived in NY for over three years.
