- Shannon from KansasBe very aware of this shade company. I got a call explaining that they we're investigating payments owed from my brother and if i didn't pay over the phone with credit card that he would be prosecuted. I believe my con-artist also said Georgia too. This was funny, I have no brother.

- Unknown| 9 repliesThis is a valid investigation company. If you have taken out a loan writing a check it is very important that you pay the money back. It is against the law to write a bad check. I will encourage anyone not to take out a loan using a CHECK!
- .Ha Ha They left me a message telling me someone with this number had a bad check, I dont have checks! Then went I called back it was the same guy that left the massage with a diff name, GET A JOB!
- AZstudent| 1 replyWas called by this number. Was told by an investigator Gregory Shaw that I owed for a 5 yr old Payday loan. When questioned, he couldn't tell me where the loan was taken out, what my middle name was, and said that I needed to pay 600+ dollars today or it would go to court. When I told him he had wrong person, he asked for the first 6 numbers of my SSN to verify who I was!!! Yeah right. He also threatened that he would keep calling until I took care of the "problem." Funny thing the date he gave me for the payday loan was right in the middle of my first deployment to the Middle East as an active duty Marine! Definitely a scam. Don"t give out your SSN to anyone over the phone unless you talking to people/businesses who need to know and you trust

- On behalf of a friend replies to AZstudentThe call just happened. Investigator Gregory Shaw @ 1-800-539-6077 x#104 said he was trying to resolve a 5 year old check fraud on a payday loan that he said was taken out 2 years prior to living in the area. He said there were 2 consecutive payday loans made the same day now totaling close to $2000 together. He wanted money (at least 20%) to stop 'litigation' proceedings.
When asked to provide written documentation he kept saying 'you know you did it'. He also said that it took them 5 years to catch up with after leaving multiple phone messages. He also stated that the number he called was the same number used on the loan application form. This phone number isn't that old, the party of the phone number didn't even live in the state of question. The friend is calling an attorney for a 'free' consultation to find resolve.
At this point I am inclined to believe this is a somewhat shady business. Even though the basis of info was incorrect he blurted out the SSN.
This day and age...unfortunately those aren't too hard to come by. Careful eyes are needed! - Tired of scamsThey are harrassing me and calling my parents and my grandparents house saying they are contacting me on a check written 5 and 1/2 years ago on a bank I have never banked at. When ask for proof they say they cannot share any of the evidence with me, but are persistent on getting money over the phone or they are turning over to local authorities for prosecution. SCAM!!!!!!!!!
- fake company really? These people called me with a girl names Brenda Lee. she claimed that if i didnt give her payment TONIGHT over the phoen with a credit card that i would have a warrant and be arrested and charged wtih check fraud from 2005... looked up their website.. lookes like a 5 yr old set it up!
- ccthese people just called my aunt, who lives in a different state and whom I havent spoken to in 10 years stating that I have 2 checks that I wrote to Sears in 2005.. I have only been to sears a few times in my life to get some lawn equipment, and we paid using a credit card. They said that I would be prosecuted.. Ok, really?? Thats the best they can do? I have tons of family that live in the same area as me, and they call my Aunt? whatever.... not worried at all. AND their website looks like a sham.

- piggy| 2 repliesHubby's mom got a call asking if she knew hubby and the
matter was about depository fraud. If a real
investigator was calling they would not divulge that
info to anyone except the person they were trying to
contact. The caller id # lead us to this bogus website;
just read their wording - it was obviously created to
continue the scare tactic.
http://www.gcbinvestigations.com. No company describes
themselves right off the bat as 'they are ethical people
who service ethical clients.' FURTHERMORE I looked at
the code used by their website and it links back to a
"create your own free website" service...so, they are
using a free website generator to continue this scam.
Sounds like some company hubby wrote a check for
somewhere along the line (ie payday loan) did not shred
the cancelled check properly when they went out of
business and now these scam people are using the check
info to hit folks up for money. This is the # they used
to call us .800-533-6077. The caller ID referenced NH
although the www references it as Georgia. Go figure.
Anyone can set up a website, and easily purchase a 1-800
#. Lincoln's picture being on the website does not make
them legit. Also, check out this article a newspaper
wrote up about them:

- Jack WeldonGCB Investigations left a message looking for a "Sharon Thompson" on 'depository fraud' (case# 396046) -> the message informed me that the "Local Authorities" will be instructed to arrest me(?) if restitution is not made ASAP. Trouble is there is no Sharon Thompson at this address, I do not know any Sharon Thompson and never have.
The caller claimed to be a 'Maya Wade' Ex110.

- Gerrisince when does an investigation company take payments?? that would fall to collection agency or magistrate court warrant. my husband was an investigator, and retired police officer. Their company never collected money. if you owe money pay it to the said company owed, collection agency, magistrate court, but not to an investigation company. they only locate and investigate people....dont be fooled.

- Jenny LafayetteLeft me a message saying i was being investigated for fraudulent checks. I have not wrote a check in years. I tried to call the man back (Mike Smith) and was told he was not available. They wanted me to verify all my information. The message they left me was only for Jennifer. They did not say may last name. When I returned the call the lady asked for my last name, address, phone number and social. I told her she should know my # as they called me in the first place. I called back a few minutes later and asked for Mike Smith again and they hung up on me.
