Harassing phone calls for somebody that doesn't even live here (which I've already told them several times)

Once you tell them to stop contacting you, they are required by law to comply. If they don't, they're subject to legal sanctions some of which may be cash damages paid to you.  And considering that they are harassing you about a matter that doesn't pertain to you, you may want to pursue a legal remedy. I believe the person that left an abusive voicemail on my business cell phone was from Blacks Attorney, etc. Hard to understand this person.

It's illegal for debt collectors to threaten people with arrest. (No debt collector has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything; nor do they have the authority to have "bench warrants" issued; nor do they have the authority to send the sheriff's department out on errands.)

I received a call from them yesterday, claiming to be a law firm.  As I see here, this is a common tactic.  The guy, who claimed to be Lee Riley, stated that he had a filing that was going to my local courthouse as of 1:30 pm today.  So of course I google the number.  Thanks, guys.

These dirt bags have a history of not being able to control their collectors. Below is the results of an action taken against them last year in Minnesota;

Respondent allowed collectors to threaten actions they had no intention of taking and allowed unlicensed collectors to contact MN residents.

We have just recently received another interesting piece of information about Creditors Interchange. The State of New York is fed up with the unlawful practices of these knuckle-heads. Because of complaints from consumers about Creditors Interchange they were forced to sign a Assurance of Discontinuance to the New York AG. In other words; "We promise not to break the law again". I have attached a copy of the court document in .pdf format. If anyone has problems with this guys please send a letter to the New York AG office, I'm sure they can make sure you are heard.

called me on Saturday morning memorial day weekend wanting to know if they had the right home.   said he was an attorney in cleveland.  these guys will do anything.   real scum!!!

I have dealt with this guy, too.  Claimed that I would be served papers by the sheriff.  I talked to him on April 23rd.  Here it is June and no papers yet.  Don't care if I do get them...they can't get blood from a turnip!  The following week some chump claiming to be his boss called me all mad because I didn't return his "senior account representative"'s call by a certain time.  Then he told me that I better call him back by a certain time or else.  HAHA...who does this guy think he is.  I am not gonna let a couple of chumps sitting 500 miles away in a cubicle dictate my life!!

They threatened me with a lawsuit, garnishment of wages and any personal property or home.

Left a message. Said they were a law office.  Something about "forced court recovery" gave a case number with the name of my local courthouse courthouse. Said he would be having sherrif deliver summons.

Received a vm at work (1-800-543-2386 x3313) from Mr. Zimmer.  Threated possible "financial affidavit" to my employer for "garnishment of wages" unless we contact him by 8:00 p.m. ET.

Received a call at work from Josh Rappold allegedly from CI & Associates looking for a former co-worker. Threatened a call to BBB unless the owner of the company called him back about a specific file number. CallerID shows 500-000-0000 (we don't subscribe to name display).

I too have been receiving calls from their for a debt from credit cards.  Has anything ever happened to any of you in regards to their claims?  Have they ever filed a court case against you?  I'm just curious as to what I should do.

Just called and left a message.  They have left several messages on my cell and work voice mail, all times of the day.  Always saying they've sent several letters (they haven't) and that they are taking my non-response as some direct attack.  They call themselves lawyers, arbitrators, law offices, sheriff's offices, always wanting to know who will be representing me in my case.  So [***].  What lawyer or law office has the time to sit around making calls like this? idiots!
