I received a from your company on Friday May 5, 2017 saying I owed on my Hydro bill.  I said what hydro bill?  Don't know the name of the caller's name (the caller was a very rude guy).  The caller said I never paid my bill, he didn't say how much?  I said I never got a bill?  The caller said why haven't I received a bill and paid it.  I asked where are you calling from?  I could not hear his reply.  The caller said I need to pay my bill as my power was going to be cut off in 20 to 30 minutes.  Then I asked him where are you calling from, and do you know what city you are calling.  The caller then proceeded to say I was a [***] [***] then he hung up.  I called the cops saying I think this is a scam.  You guys when you call someone better have your information correct and not be a complete [***] and rude.

I got a call from this number on my cell phone. I looked it up, and there are numerous complaints saying it's a scammer pretending to be from New York State Electric and Gas (it IS their real number, being spoofed by the scammer). I live in another state, and the place they want payment delivered to before turning off electricity in 30 minutes is over 5 hours away! Not very clever.  :D

Caller ID says: NYSEG. Woman wanting to discuss solar power. I had to be rude so she would stop her spiel. Quickly hung up on her & blocked the #.

I have received several calls from this this number over the past few days. If this is number is NYSEG, why are they calling me? I DO NOT LIVE IN NEW YORK STATE! GET A MAP!!!

Many of the calls logged here are an example of a call spoofing operation, wherein the scammer is spoofing the number of the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation and placing calls to make you think you are being contacted by the real entity. Called me about a New York power bill could not be further from New York....California you fools!  This is a scammer and criminal don't answer the call.  NYSEG make sure you know that criminals are spoofing you number similar scam/criminal activity happening here in California too with SoCal Edison, DWP, RPUC etc.

Caller said I qualified for a 15% discount on my NYSEG bill. An obvious scam of some kind.

15% discount on my NYSEG bill. I missed the call but it was on my answering machine. Maybe they will call back.

Why would you want a scammer to call back?

Maybe that person is lonely?

Hm. Yeah, possibly. But he'd have better conversation calling the # for information. Or better yet, the # for the time. Is that even still around?  :-)

Received several calls from this number.  Wants you to get a reduction in electric. At no time do they identify the electric company...

A voicemail was received that claiming to be from the power utility.  The frivolous message claimed it was the final notice and etc. The irony of it all is that our  local cable network just did a story on this exact operation. The caller claims to shut off the power unless they receive payment in person using a gift card.

I received call also,  I have Solar panels, and they want to discuss my electric supplier!!!    The SUN?!?

Robocall for an electric bill scam.  They are breaking multiple laws.  Their caller id says NYSEG but when I talked to the call center they said they were subcontractors.

The fake NYSEG scammers called but did not pick up when I answered.
