- Slim replies to Bethany AlstonQuote:got remote access to my computer.
You REALLY need to read and heed my earlier post, dated 8 Feb 2015 - rogeri paid. quite a bit of money. it was a phishing scam, where they pose as legitimate help. The lesson definitely is just take the computer to the shop.

- KathyI thought I was talking with Norton support. A chat room opened up from "Dave". He had me enter my phone#. Next he called me and had me on and off the phone for 7 hrs to repair my pc. Luckily I never paid him. But he had access to my computer. He reset it to factory and deleted my antivirus and replaced with McAfee.

- kiwizkI had the same thing. A window popped up to chat with a technician on the Apple Support page that would automatically open after I got a virus on my Macbook Air. I was connected to a guy named Chris who called me from this number. He claimed he was living in Virginia but from Dehli. He only said this after I wrongly gave him remote access to my laptop, though, to "diagnose" it and he noticed folders on my desktop in Hindi and the photos of my partner. He took total advantage of the perceived commonality between him and my partner to keep me on the line while trying to sell the anti-virus software. When I wasn't immediately acquiescing, he became overtly pushy about it and I hung up. He claimed to have given me his apple ID number and extension at this 800 number. I wiped and reformatted my laptop on my own after that. Has anyone tried to call it since just to see what would happen? Or lodged a complaint with the company they were pretending to operate under?
