We got a call from them too. What did they say to you when you called?

I received a call from them today on my cell phone...first time I've heard of these people and they asked for me by my maiden name.  I've been married for almost 3 years now.

My father got a call today from this number, a guy with an Indian Accent saying his name was Sean Morgan. My father got a good chuckle on that one. I've lived in the state I'm in for over 11 years, and I know I haven't put my parents phone number down on anything in a good 5+ years.  So who these guys are and why they're calling my parents, I don't know. But my father is the one that found this site about them. He wouldn't give them my address or phone number. I know what's on my credit report and I suspect that they've gotten ahold of something that has long gone off of my credit report. These companies buy debt for pennies on the dollar and work their tails off to collect the money which is pretty much pure profit to them.  Maybe I should start my own collection agency?

If they are so legit, why the need to call from so many different numbers and hide the company name? Why does everyone have the exact same reference number for individual debt?

i work for a company that buys charged off debt and takhar is a collection agency that we use to collect this debt.  i hear complaints all of the time about this company.  regardless of their accent, manner etc.., the point is is that you are being called b/c you either owe a debt or someone used your information to incur a debt.  the action you need to take is find out what company they represent to get more information about the debt then pay it if you owe it or file a police report for identity theft.  too many people abuse their priviledge to incur debt.  they think that by disregarding it for many years they can get away without paying it.  think again!  you can & will be sued, have a lien put on your assets, wages garnished etc...  Basically PAY YOUR DEBT & you won't receive a call from this company!  :)

These guys are shady dealers and scammers and if you get a call from them file a 1088 Complaint with the FCC at https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do and if you are on the National Do Not Call List, file a Complaint at https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx.

If the government gets enough complaints from you, we can put these guys out of business.

I got a call on my cell phone from this company about a supposed bill for BMG/Columbia House.  I called them back at 800-898-4426 and she said I owed Columbia House money.  I paid this same exact bill to another collection company in December 2006.  Last year I went thru the same thing- a different Collection service was trying to get me to pay the bill again.  That took 6 months to resolve.  Now I have to go through it again??  Yes I know its my fault it went to collections but come on!  I paid it....why is it still being sold to other agencies???

They called, said had to call back by 5pm today, didn't say who they were calling. The number they used this time was 866-408-8299. I had them spell thir name out for me as they were calling for a roommate so I don't know what they actually want, as I would not confirm who I was.

For probably 2 months I've been receiving calls. They would leave a message to call them, but no company name, no individual name, didn't even leave the full phone # to call back at until today. The only bad debts that I have accumulated in the past 5-10 years, have either been paid off. Or the current debt I have (for medical expenses from tests) I have all ready set up a payment plan with a local collection agency to take care of. As far as Mr. or Ms. PAYYOURDEBT goes, I guess they have been so fortunate to never be so ill they had to quit their job. And, after that, my husband suffered a herniated disc, out of work for 4 months, more medical expenses. Not to mention all the other "life's problems" like work truck breaking down, etc. & so on. I wish I was still able to force myself to go, but somedays I can't even wash our dishes. I AM SO ENVIOUS PAYYOURDEBT, I WOULD LOVE TO WORK, I DON'T LIKE OWING $ I CAN'T PAY! I receive a call everyday from this number claiming to be TGC/TCS/Takhar Collection Services. The people have indian accents or middle eastern accents but names like "Phillip Thomas"...yeah right! I got so annoyed that I registered my number on the do-not-call list. But they still call, but now it shows up on the called ID as "out of area" or "unknown". They insist that I owe $256.27 to Shop at Home. I asked them what credit card was used for the purchase or what item was purchased...they said they could not send verification of this. I told them they had the wrong person, I did not have an account with shop at home, nor did I purchase anything from them for that amount. They said once that it was affecting my credit report, then on another call they threaten to report it to the credit agengies. Which is it??? I told them that I check my credit quite often and that nothing like that is showing on there. They asked me to send them a copy of my credit report to them so they can "verify" that. I asked them for a physical address, but refused to give me one. They said I could fax it. They are very rude on the phone. Today after the most recent call from "Phillip" I was extremely pissed. I told him up front that this call was being recorded. He then became irate and told me that I could not record the call because HE didn't give me authorization to record the call. I told him it was my phone and I can record any damn call I please. And I declared that I was recording the call up front, and that it was his choice whether he wanted to continue, or he can hang up. He then put me on hold so he could verify this from his supervisor. He then came back to continue with the debt I owed. I told him that they were violating the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about, he just kept saying "uh-huh", and continued to argue. I then asked for a physical address again so that I could send a formal verification letter that this account was not mine. He then said "Ok have a nice day" and hung up without giving me anymore info. I decided to find out what I could about this so called "collection agency". I called the number back to see what company or person I got. It was TGC. I pretended to be another person returning one of their phone calls. I gave them a random number off the top of my head, and as suspected he could not find my account info in the system. He asked if I was calling about the DVD debt with Columbia House...I playingly agreed. I told him that I wanted to send a payment, and to give me the address where I could send it. He quickly gave me an address : 1623 Military Road Niagra Falls, NY 16203. He also gave me an account "reference number" to include with the payment. I asked him how he was able to give me a reference # if my account info wasn't showing up with the fake # I just gave him. He then got nervous and was stumbling for words, then said he made a mistake. YEAH RIGHT! You just got busted SCAM ARTIST SCUMBAG! I wonder how many people fall for this scam?! BE WARNED! Anyway, I filed a complaint with the do not call registry and the FCC. Hopefully they will quit calling, b/c I work nights and sleep during the day!

I do not owe a debt to bmg you [***], this is clearly a scam and you probably have something to do with it

I recieved the exact same call...same # 866-408-9299 ext 272 mary... i told her i paid that bill a long time ago...after they screwed up my order...just to get rid of it ...and she wanted my cecking acct ,debit or credit card...I told her send me a bill..and she said they could no longer do that since it was in collections... i asked for a web site to check them out ... and this is what i got....lol... these ppl must think we are smokin crack...lol

I'm willing to start a class action suit on these [***]... they called me about a Columbia House bill... I have an open account, in good standing with Columbia House... they cannot provide details of what I owe for and I've spent my afternoon arguing with them and they've given me about 5 different numbers to call with Columbia House...all new membership or other automated numbers that are of no help... and are asking me if I agree with their statements and what would I be willing to pay... ZERO on what I do not know. Does anyone have a legit address for these guys, because they sure are not giving it up. I'm  serious about a class action suit because now I'm mad.

Called my cell phone and left a message to call them back immediately at 1-866-408-8299 (before 5pm). I called back from a different number, was routed through their voice automated system, and got a voicemail for the "Takhar Group of Companies".

Sounds like a scam group. I have no overdue debt and I have no idea how they got my number.
