I received this letter in the mail from this company saying they could reduce my debt according to the the Economic Stimulus Act of 2009.  But there wasn't  a whole lot of information about who they are and how they got my name to send me this offer.

I too just received a notice with the number 1-800-650-9181. If this is a total scam, how are they able to know how much my debt is? If it is a scam, then is there a way to report this or stop these people from saying they are from the National Debt Relief Stumulus Plan?

it's a business. My wife just got a letter. It'll mess up your credit. Maybe not as much as bk or settling for less than amount owed. Let's just face it. We borrow, they lent and they are using the law to their benefits to hold you captive. It takes hard work and discipline to fix get out of debt and keep your credit in tact...Either way, you'll pay the price. There is no magic bullit.
