- KaySCAM? SCAM?
I was trying to go to you tube on computer around 1pm today 9/11/15 when an warning message came up "System Alert"
you have viruses or trojans in your computer, call said # immediatley. I tried to get off line and I could not they had my computer locked. So, I called the number 800-656-2051, thinking it was Microsoft, not paying attention to how the phone was answered, and was talking to them and something didn't add up. I told him I was hanging up and taking it to a shop in my town and he said oh don't do that you have only about 50% of your computer working and they can't help. Sorry to say I gave him a lot of information before I realized something was not right. I told the Tech (Kevin, he said his name was) that I was going to call the Microsoft Tech's # I had and he said don't do that I'll call you back in 5 minutes. He did not.
I hung up and called the Microsoft Tech that I had been dealing with about 2 weeks ago as I had, had this same trouble, of which they worked about 8 hours getting my computer straightened out, and I explained what had happened and he said it was a scam and not to give them any information. If this happened again to call him, not the number on the "alert".
Two days ago I saw where my Microsoft Security wasn't working and I guess that's when they hacked into my computer.
I called the 800-656-2051 about 4 times and they answered "Platinum Tech Support" I didn't know this when I was talking to the Microsoft Tech or I would have told him the name they answered with. Any way when they answered I hung up and they called me back with Unknown & 000-000-000 as the number. I didn't answer the phone. If you get this message on your computer do not call this number and some how get in touch with Miocrosoft. You can google Microsoft and get their telephone number. The clue I missed while talking with them, is the room is very noisy with other people talking.
I was almost SCAMMED - oh, how easy it is for those evil people who want to take advantage of someone!- Caller: Platinum Tech Support
- Krystal| 1 replyI had almost the same experience!! I actually let them have remote access to my computer though before I realized the were scamming me, I realized it before I gave my card info though when they asked for payment. The two men I talked to had thick Indian accents and were VERY, VERY rude and condescending and I'm embarrassed I let them get to me.
I'm afraid to even turn on my computer now. I have also disconnected my modem and router.
Who should I contact first? My internet provider or the norton security? (Or one like it, unfortunately I don't have protection on my computer at this time :( - christianI had the same experience.told them I can't make transactions and they asked for my amazon account number. I told them I don't have a credit card then they cut me off. They have a different number which is +1 (877) 382-1388 and when they call you the number appears 0000000000
