Just got a similar call - they asked for the last 4 digits of my social then asked for my debit card number to 'reactivate' my account that had been temporarily frozen. same car company in canada. nice try.

My wife and I received the same message, claiming our Bank of America card had been fraudulently used.  She was suppose to press 1 to talk to security.  But, thankfully AT&T dropped the call.  Normally that's annoying - but in this case, it worked out well.

I recieved the same call stating they were Bank of America and my card was frozen. I called BOA and they said the card was not frozen and that was not one of their numbers.

I received a called from "Bank of America" saying my debit card was frozen and they will reactivate it. They asked for my debit card number. It was a woman digitilized voice. Luckily I decide to call back, and its a car company. Also, whoever is doing this, they know on Sunday you cant reach any representant in Bank of America Debit Card Numbers.

Just got the same call saying that my BoA debit card was frozen. Something just didn't sound right, so luckily I didn't give them my info.

Called my cell. I didn't recognize the number and didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. Interesting that a number of people are posting to this thread today and that at least one other commenter is from TX. My BOA debit card does happen to be frozen right now and has been for about 2 weeks (I made an overseas purchase on it and haven't unfrozen it since), but my husband's cell and our home # are attached to it and there was no attempt made to either of those.

What bank calls your cell at 6:40 PM on Sunday night to say your card is frozen so you need to tell them your debit card number and account information? I'm glad I didn't answer! I suspect these are scammers who are using an automated means of displaying a different phone number than the one they're calling from. Poor CarQuest probably has no idea why they're getting so many call backs. If you have a problem, call the bank directly to resolve it.

I also just received a call from this number but didn't answer because I generally don't answer 800 numbers, but instead just call the number back to see who was calling. I called back and it was some sort of car company. My boyfriend called me earlier today saying that Bank of America called him saying his card was frozen, but he thought it was because he just came back from Europe or because he had transferred money to my account. His account is in Georgia, and mine is in Texas.

I got a voice mail message from this number claiming my debit card had been lost or stolen.  I was prompted to push a digit to "reactivate" it.  I deleted it!  When I googled the number, a company named "CARSTAR Quality Collision Service" popped up.  It said extension #242

I received a computer message, claiming my Bank of America debit card was frozen because of suspected fraudulent use and they will reactivate. It says to press 1 to talk to security. I do not have a  Bank of America debit card or any account with Bank of America.

I received a call tonight at 10:35 p.m. Sunday night (7/31). The recording stated that they were calling from Bank of America and that my debit card had been frozen. I was to select option #1, but I DID NOT because I found it strange getting this call this time of night. I call back the number and found it was some company from Canada calling. I was not too long ago my daughter's account was broken into by some company in Canada and withdraw her savings. Everyone BEWARE of scams such as this one.

I just had a call at 10:53pm.  An automated voice said it was Bank of America and that my debit card had been frozen.  I was to push #1 to speak to an operator.  I hung up.  I then called the real Bank of America, and of course they are updating their systems on Sunday night, so they cannot access their computers!  ARGH.  The Bank of America lady said, "Yeah, they do that".  What a huge help...NOT.  Anyway, I'm going to report it to the police dept. tomorrow.

Same thing as all of the posts here: claim 10:56pm on Sunday night, electronic call stating that our Bank of America debit card is now locked.

So nice that they chose tonight to phish/scam-call me about our lost/stolen/blocked debit card at 11pm; a night when my wife is by herself, away on business in an unfamiliar town...

A lot of scary scenarios hit the brain within seconds when you get a call like that!

    $%^hole scammers.

I got a call at 11:35PM tonight (07-31-2011) stating the same message. I did press #1 and then the voice asked me to enter my "16 digit card number." That's when I hung up. I figured it was some sort of scam since they called and said my debit card was frozen and then wanted me to enter my card number. If it was a legit call, they would have had my acount number in order to know it was frozen and wouldn't be asking me for it.

I hope people don't fall for this scam.

I just received a call at 12:20 am.  I didn't answer because it was weird to get a call from an 800 number at midnight.  This is weird that it's happening in Texas today.

12:30 AM got call from synthesized female voice that "This is Bank of America Security calling to regretfully inform you that your debit card has been compromised, please press one to be transferred to security".  Not falling for that...
