- EricI received a call on my voice mail at my office. Somethig particular is that I have a extension that you have to dial to get to my voicemail.
- Fooled by American ExpressI got a call from this number. When I answered it nobody answered and after I while I heard the busy signal. So I dialed the number to find out who these idiots are. There was a message: Thank you for chosing American Express, For service in English press 1 pour service en francais set le 2. Without pressing any key, the messsage continued: Your call will be recorded for servive inaccuracy, qualtity assurcance and training purposese. Then 2 times Please enter your American Express card number. After a while: you will be now transferred to the first available representative. I told the person answering the phone why they are calling me as I don't have an American Express card. She asked me if a message was left. I said no. The she said it might have been a promotionsl call. I asked her what kind of service it is to call people and then nobody is on the line. In revenge I call this number until a representative answers and let him saying his greeting formula severeal times until he hangs up.
- Caller: American Express
- BeckyI get this call at work all the time. It just rings, I say my greeting, and then it hangs up. It does this all the time. I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem.
- Caller: Unknown
- Call type: Unwanted
- Anon| 1 reply5-10 times a day....always hangs up right after the answering machine finishes it's greeting. I don't care who it is I'd just like to find out how to get this BS to stop...you get ahead of the curve of some previous nuisance calling only to be bombarded by a fresh set of numbers the following week or month...it never ends.
If I didn't need a phone I'd get rid of it altogether. That time is approaching quickly with the constant unwanted phone calls. I pine for the days when the phone only rang for legit purposes....(15 years ago)- Caller: some [***] heel
- Call type: Unwanted
- HollyI have received 7 phone calls from this number within 27 hours. I assumed that it was a debt collector, finally picked up and in my most pissed off voice said "You know, this borders on criminal harassment. If you have something to request from me, put it in writing." So it's not a collector, just a spammer?
- HollyMine is a Holt Renfrew AMEX. Anyone elses? I ask because I used to get annoying calls for consumer feedback on Holt's. I have some feedback, stop ()_**^%&%^$ calling me!
- L. W. replies to elfyYes, you can block most incoming numbers by subscribing to something called Call Screen service; from what I remember this was effective on most of those credit card companies...the only exception being CIBC.
- leobabethey called my house. If it is Amex it makes no sense, since I don't have an Amex Card. I don't think it's Amex
- RuthThis number has called my cell 5 times in the last 5 hours. Havn't answered yet, don't plan to. I have never been associated with American Express. Plan to call the company tomorrow if these shenanigans don't end today.
- RuthUpdate: it has now been 9 calls in 7 hours
- laurathis number has called me 5 times in 3 hours yesterday and once today. Today I answered and the guy said it was american express, wanting to talk to my husband. He wouldn't tell me why. I called the number back and got an american express representative but did not feel comfortable giving him my card number and security information. Something is fishy.
- Caller: American Express?
- StephAlways on my cell phone saying "Stay on the line and one of our representatives will answer you shortly"
I get impatient when I call for service, you think I'm gonna wait when you're the ones calling me!
If you really wanted to talk, you would have a real person on the phone and not a recording...
Does anyone ever wait on the line? - hollysounds like a scam, i wont enter my CC # on that phone line
- think i got scammedgot a message on my machine to call back regarding my AMEX account. when i called they asked a bunch of personal information including my security number on my AMEX card and said that there has been another account opened up under my name with a separate address by someone i didn't know. they then said that they were calling because i have a high balance but then couldn't forward me to the fraud department because it was "closed". that was when i was suspicious because the fraud department of a CC company should NEVER be closed. DON'T GIVE ANYONE AT THIS NUMBER ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOU. Call AMEX directly.

so Is It Legitimate Call ? i dont Think So - Liam replies to LanProI think someone is spoofing their number to make it seem like AMEX is calling. I have been getting this number AND 1.800.665.6500 which is very similar. The second number is for a hotel - I just phoned and spoke to a very nice lady who said they have been getting a number of complaints about this.
NEVER give out your info over the phone if you have been contacted, only if you have phoned the institution yourself. - I hate SpoofersThese calls are coming from a hacker type person[s], which is spoofing AMEX toll free line as the caller ID. They are set up though an automated dialing system to call you again and again, and it's using a spoofcard to change the caller ID so they can jam up American Express's toll free line. American Express can't stop it from their end because the calls are not originating from them. A way to stop the calls is to *57 right after one of these calls to trace the call and report it to your phone providers fraud department. Please note there might be a service charge to use this feature, it all depends on your phone plan.
- Vanessa| 2 repliesThis number has called me 10 times in the last 32 hours! I do not pickup, and I continue to refuse to pickup. If it is something legitimate, they would leave a message!
- crazysunshine replies to Anne MarieI'm soooooo sick of all these BS calls-i just changed and unlisted my home phone number..and being extremely aware of whom gets that number...and now its starting on my cell! WTH! I also put my numbers on the DO NOT CALL LIST!! You know it's bad when you do not want to answer your own damn phone..this [***] has to stop! If I want something I'll sign up for it myself face to face with a PERSON.. this world is becoming so lazy resorting to machines.
I wouldn't be surprised if AMX or any other business sells their contact list..anything to get a buck! - crazysunshine replies to Vanessaeveryone should call them all at once and jam their phone line with unnecassary BS!
