We too received a call from "Debbie" with National Provider Compliance Comp - re: new local Medicare code changes and updates as of January 1st., and information re: ICD-9 to ICD-10 changes.  After looking up their website online - they provide seminars.... for a LARGE fee - so, we will not be returning this "sales" call.  Unless I request a call specifically - I will not return the call.

We received multiple calls from multiple people stating we were required to attend their seminars to stay in compliance with CMS. We told them to stop calling several times. Eventually made a complaint to the BBB (and not-surprisingly they had many complaints, resulting in a rating of F) dealt with their QA supervisor, who wanted to defend his company by bickering and claiming our company was lying. Anyways, I thought I would share a little of the nightmare I have gone through with this ridiculous "company".

Has anyone REPORTED them to MEDICARE?

Seems if they are using Medicare to scam people into buying these seminars- Medicare should be made aware of it.

    TOO BUSY FOR THIS
I received a message stating that her name was Alison and that she was calling from National Provider Compliance about 2011 updates.  She made it sound like she was with someone important but after reading the messages above, I will not be calling her and I don't think they would want to call me back.

Yep  -just got a phone call from Suzanne- same bull****. I am not even a participating provider and 90% 0f Chiropractic services are considered "non-covered"- so being in compliant is irrelevant.

Glad I looked this up.  We recieved a call from Mindy at x44. She told us that Medicare was adding 68,000 new codes and there was going to be tons of changes in 2011.  She said it was for a continuing education class and billing procedures, coding, modifiers, and ICD 10.  There would have to be a "deposit" of $147 to take the class.  After reading all this and talking it over with my boss we are definitely NOT calling back.  Oh and they even gave me locations of the seminars but she had to look them up first... Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, and Troy. 4 of the largest cities in michigan closest to my area code...She was very pushy.  Definitely something we are passing on.

Got a call from Ms Cunningham from National Provider Compliance Preparation regarding compliance information for medical clinics regarding coding from icd-9 to icd-10 changes. The message was curt, and slightly threatning with the implication that we had not done something and are in need to enact the changes before the April 1st deadline. No idea what they were talking about. I didn't bother calling back.

Wanted all to know that I too, keep getting these calls.  First, call the national do-not-call number from every different phone number, that you wish to enroll with the National Do Not Call List.  This takes about 30 days to activate, it's free.  It is intended to protect all individuals from telemarketing calls.  If the calls continue after this activation is effective, report it. It then becomes a federal violation.  When the calls come to the office, or home, tell them immediately, the office does not accept calls from tele-marketers, and they are disrupting a medical office, and or your privacy.  Tell them that they will be reported to the National Do Not Call Center, and appropriate actions will take place.  Also, kindly inform them to CEASE from all calls immediately!  I always instruct them to please FAX to my attention, the information that they are seeking. I do that so that I can have proof of real documentation of continued harassment.  Remember, if you have a designated fax line 24/7 unplug it and plug a phone into the jack so that you can report that line number to the National Do Not Call Center.  Every phone number or fax, must be reported from the actual line.  You cannot call and report different numbers from the same phone line.  Then remember to plug your fax back in.

Remember, HIPPA compliance prohibits one from releasing any information regarding patients without the patients' consent.  So always, protect yourself.  Have them respond via fax and get documentation. All fax must have identifing telephone/fax numbers and date on the top.  If this is not present, it usually is fraud.

Here is the message that I received today in a very demanding voice: March 18th, 2011 @ 12:19pm  Ohio time.
Hi, this message is for the person that handles Medicare billing.  My name is Brenda, I'm calling from National Provider Compliance Corporation.  I'm calling regarding the current information on the ICD-10 transition and your July Medicare Compliance information.  I need a return call please at 1-800-669-3328 Extension 55.  Thank you.

The National Do Not Call website is:  www.donotcall.gov  If you have not registered your telephone lines, then do so.  After, 31 days, it is in the system permanently. This became law in 2-2008.  Violations are investigated via the FTC, Federal Trade Company, and can lead to criminal charges.  I have filed a complaint against this company after I have notified them that they must cease from any further contact.  I have informed National Do Not Call center that this company is acting fraudulently by attempting to deceive doctors and medical staff in thinking that they are in violation through Medicare office with compliance issues.  It appears as though this company is doing this to all doctors across the country.  It is a very serious violation and they must be reported.  Do not become a Victim.  Inform them to stop all calls.  I have also contacted the U.S. Medicare Company to inform them of this so called fraudulent company that is pretending to take their identity.

Unfortunately, I bought in.  I attended a seminar and subsequently bought the materials they solicited at the seminar.  The CDs, which were supposed to have modifiable documents on them, were blank or not updated.  I tried calling the company, sending a "contact us" e-mail from their website that bounced back, and eventually attending (unannounced, of course) a subsequent seminar, to get some attention from these people.  None of my calls were returned, but I did get their attention when I told the entire audience in attendance at the seminar what their company was/is doing.  I also submitted complaints to the Washington and California State Attorney General's offices.  They have responded to the WSAG's complaint, by writing them back to let them know that I had not gone through the proper channels to get some attention, but that they have a Quality Assurance Department that I should have contacted.  I guess that number is only given out to those who speak out in public, but not if you are quiet about it.  The seminar "leader" tried to shove me out of the seminar.  I am hopeful that she didn't make a sale that day.  Although I never raised my voice, I did refuse to leave without some acknowledgment from NPCC.  After she tried to shove me out the door, she had the hotel manager call the police.  I was amazed at how she didn't miss a beat; she went right into her speach, which I recognized to be verbatim of the speach she gave to my seminar class.  I have to say, they are polished at what they do.  I have not resolved my issue with them yet.

God Bless Google and you for all of your comments here...There is too much going on here for bogus sales calls.  Was called yesterday by Linda at extension 39, for compliance changes required by July 1.  Called back and asked to be removed from their list.
