I just received a call.  TD Ameritrade.  Says that I need to "take immediate action on my account" and they needed my social security number to verify.  hmmm???

When you change your password to your TD account, you have the option of getting a verification number (which is required before you can change your PW) by email or by the phone number registered with your account.  If you opt for the phone, they immediately call you from 800-669-3900 which is LEGITIMATE if you asked them to call you. I did that this morning.  If, somehow you get a call like the one Gia reports, that sounds like someone hijacked the TD # and is phishing.  TD follows up with an immediate email saying you just changed your PW as a further security precaution.

I note that there is no call type option for "Legitimate Business" so I've used "unknown".

I agree with Legion and others. The number does belong to TD Ameritrade but, I'm sure they would not ask for a SS#. Maybe the last four at most.  I would suspect phishing.  If this happens, go to your TD account and check your messages.

It is a legitimate call. You likely changed your your password. It is for security reasons.

Scammers are using this number to steal your TD Amertrade money. TD Ameritrade will only call you if you requested it. If you didn't ask to be called, don't answer!!!

This number IS TD Ameritrade, but I have received multiple calls from this number over the past few weeks saying there has been activity on my Coinbase account they need to verify.

Coinbase is not owned by TD Ameritrade. So WTF? I think scammers are spoofing this number.

    Be vigilant.

Numbers can be spoofed, using false caller IDs.
This is illegal in the USA.  These calls are not necessarily from TD Ameritrade.

Well, asking someone who posted on a phone number look-up site 6 years ago isn't going to get you anywhere.
