- Not that stupid| 1 replyI have no idea how this works but the number comes up on my phone as Countrywide (now defunct) and calls BoA. HOWEVER, it was some scammer who tried to get me to send $900 (not even the amount of one of my mortgage payments) through MoneyGram. I told him I'd call back in a few minutes but I didn't so he called me back and told me he would go ahead with foreclosure if I didn't pay it in the next 20 minutes. I told him it'd take longer than that to go find a moneygram location and he wanted to know exactly HOW long. I asked him for something in writing that would say the terms of this agreement but he said his system was computerized and could only send out receipts. He made me mad and I got snippy and he said "F*ck you". So, I called BoA and asked specifically about this. They said I'm not in foreclosure and that was DEFINITELY a scam. Do NOT cooperate with these people. These guys all spoke with Indian accents but the main guy said his name was Michael Rogers. BoA said they have nobody by that name that would have called me about this issue.

They didn't even give me a workout sheet and gave me a new payment plan. They wanted me to pat them over $800 for back escrow through money gram. All have accents from India one said his name was Lee Watson.

- Debbie| 1 replyI received a check in the mail from Bank of America with no letter of explanation. The reference info says "Fax Fee Rfnd Rqst Question CL 8006696607". Scared to cash the check! Anyone else?
- Jackson replies to DebbieI received the same check for $30 that looks to be from BOA. I don't bank with them so am very suspicious as well. I don't plan on cashing this check. Besides there is no phone number on the check, which usually they should. Only the bank of the mailer did it list the 8006696607 number.
- PeterI got the same check, not sure whether or not to cash it, doesn't seem legit.
- RobertDefinitely a scam. The number may be a legit BofA number, but if so, it's been spoofed. There is software and phone apps, I could get one right now, that show you to a call someone ajs they see some other number and name on the caller ID, could even be caliber ID show the name and number of the person you are calling.
As for the checks, as I've read, any check with s company name, simply call thur company or visit them, and verify the check.

- tattletaleLive voice (foreign accent) called and claimed I had a suspicious $750 charge for a donation from Alabama on my credit card. I don't. He wanted me to give him my credit card number. I said I had more than one card. He couldn't tell me anything about anything. He gave no cardholder name, couldn't say if it was Visa, MC, Discover, or Amex. He couldn't give me the last 4 of any card. It was a lame phishing attempt to get me to give up my information. He used intimidation to say that if I didn't cooperate, I would have to deal with the unauthorized charge on my own. He then hung up.

- Big T100% total scam call trying to get you to verify a Zelle confirmation number so they can take $$$ from your account.
Someone called from this number and had the last 4 digits of my account and card numbers; they said they were a Bank Of America fraud rep and someone had tried to use my account to make debit purchases and a Zelle transfer; that the debit purchases were blocked but the Zelle transfer had gone through to a Chase account. I had initially ignored the number and was suspicious that it was fake because it came up as some weird misspelling of BofA Mortgage services; why the hell would their mortgage dept call about fraud...? But they called a second time a moment later.
I checked my online banking while on the line, saw no transactions, and he sent me a text to "verify" my account which was a Zelle money transfer code from Chase bank... When I told him I didn't see any transactions or attempts on the account, he started blabbering some nonsense about security codes and his supervisor. I told him I'd call back at the BofA 1-800 number and he said to take his name ("Chris Cardello") and badge number down, and then said, "here, take my middle name to. It's spelled D, E, E, Z, N, U, T, Z. Can you read that back to me?"
"Yeah nice try Chris. Have a good night."- Caller: "Chris Cardello"
