The caller spoke with an accent and could not make a complete sentence to save his life. I have services not running on my computer because a hacker got into it. DUH we all have services not running on our computers! And I have anti-virus and he was full of crap. He is a Microsoft tech and systems are not running on my computer. Do the following
    1. Windows + R Key
    2. msconfig - shows what is and isn't running
    3. Options/services - to show me not everything is running and hackers will get in (Hackers already go in *not got in according to him)
    4. Let him remote into my computer and fix it! NEVER FALL FOR THIS!!

Feb 4-2014.  Call received in the NYC vicinity.
The number: 1 800 672-7070 performs exactly as others have described. Automatic message says that it's Microsoft calling and that your Microsoft device is generating serious errors. Stay on the line and a man with a strong Indian accent comes on and says he's from Microsoft. When I ask "What department?" he has a difficult time putting an English sentence together. Replying that I'll return the call to Microsoft directly, asking him for the correct dep't and number, he mumbles "OK. sir, you can call yourself" and a string of mumbo jumbo before he hangs up.  Call 800 672 7070  back, you'll hear a message asking if there's anyone above 50 in the household. Press 1 for Yes, a person comes on who is purporting to sell you a Life Alert system, saving you $300 if you sign today. No question,  this is a scammer's number.

Same as previous recent reports:  Long pause, then a robocall informing me that my computer was generating some serious errors and warnings..  I hung up before it got any further, so I didn't know they were claiming to have a bogus Microsoft connection.
All our phones (land line & cells) have been on the "Do Not Call List" since we got the numbers.
These calls are illegal and very irritating.
The Consumers Union (publishes Consumer Reports) recently listed robocalls as the number one complaint of its readers.

Completely bogus call from "Microsoft". Scam claiming my computer is generating serious warnings and errors.

I've seen this scam before and had to clean up several of my client's PCs after they were "fixed" by "Microsoft". Quite a bit of damage to fix requiring at least 3 days to fix each one.

Do not fall for this one folks.

It is.  These are scammers working out of India and Pakistan.  Do not give them any personal financial information and DO NOT log on to any site they suggest.  They will attempt to get into your computer and clean out any financial or personal information they can find.

I just received the call as well. At first I was concerned then when I thought about it, I realized I don't even have Microsoft. I have a MacBook.

I hung up in her ear.

They really need to give it a rest.
