Somebody called looking for some else and said his name was Brandon ext: 1161587! Yes, he gave that long extension. Caller unknown VM left no company name.

The call came from Ally Financial, AKA Allied Financial. They call MY WORK PHONE multiple times each day, asking for someone named Jonathan. Our IT people have blocked two of their numbers, and now they're using a new one.

Well, would it not be better to send that bank a letter from your business? That way it would be in writing instead of simply blocking number. Wonder why no one can handle problems the correct way anymore? Someone who is in business should know how to type up a letter and mail it out to solve a problem.

Somebody called looking for some else and said her name was Stephanie with ext: 1161017.  Just like OP, caller left a voicemail and did not specify company name

Got a voicemail from this number stating " This is Barbara Young calling for [my name] in reference to [my sister's name]. Call me back at 800-675-9372 extension 1161505." Asked my sister if she knew anything about this and she is as lost as I am.

Someone claiming to be Jonathan Smith called in reference to my dead grandfather called and left the number 800-675-9372 x 1161587 from Ally Financial.

This number called and left a voicemail for (my name) in reference to (two of my neighbors who I’ve never had more than a passing conversation with). Left a 7 digit extension (1161651) and I called it back. Kimberly Bell repeated her names several times when she asked for my name, account number and social security number (I actually laughed at her and declined to provide any of them) and when pressured, she said she worked for Ally Financial. That is the name of my bank - I called them and they had no record of the call. Concerning that they had my name and apparently my address associated with my cell phone number. Watching carefully for identity theft now.

This is definately a scam. Do not answer, give any information, or anything! They are calling relatives of people afiliated with Ally Financial. These people are NOT Ally Financial.

User had my full legal name looking for someone I didn't know who shared my last name.  Said they were AC Crocker and I couldn't tell if that was their name or company name but they did leave a long extension:  1161621

Husband's phone received a voice message. JASMINE from "Ally Financial" needed to desperately to speak with me and to call back Extension #1101250. The number they called of course is not even the same and comes up scam.

Your husband's phone number is listed as a scam?

The number they called from is different from one they left. And not sure why my husband's phone. People sell [***] online. They didn't even get my name exactly right, so... not sure why this scam is failing so hard. Either way reported it on the government site as scam.

Got that same call today and they used my wife’s name and referenced her cousin.

Sent me a 1099 with an amount of $15,801.26
When I called the number 800-241-0172 they told me they could not help me but to call 800-675-9375 ext 1184427 when I called they wanted my FULL ss number, I said NO and hung up.

A 1099 What?  Misc? C?  What was it for?  If it is not legitimate you will have to take it up with the IRS.
