We called this number after receiving a postcard offering a free month of ekectricity.  Someone briefly answered in a foreign dialect, then hung up.

Received postcard in the mail about free month of electricity.  Was suspicious and figured this was a scam.  Looks like it is.  Thank you Ken for reporting this too.  So sad.

They are sending out postcards in the mail claiming you can receive one month of free electricity. They claim that electricity we are getting comes from fuel and bad for the ecology. Who's that stupid? And they speak with a foreign accent.

Also received a post card because "as a valued PPL customer, you are eligible to receive one moth of FREE electricity!  It's our way of saying thank you."  I called 1800-311-6757 (time sensitive!) and spoke to someone named Joe.  He started his spiel and then I asked if Smart Energy could send me anything in writing.  "Oh, yes, of course, but I need your PPL account number first,"  But why?  Because in order to look at their literature or get anything in writing I would have to be "enrolled" in their program first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   He did say I could go to their website and take a look at Smart Energy that way, but as for receiving anything in writing, NOPE.  HUGE sign of a scam.  I told him it looked as if Smart Energy was hiding something, thanked him and hung up.

I believe this is a scam. The fact that they would not provide anything in writing before enrolling did not feel right. I talked to the local power company and they have no relationship with the company on the post card. I wouldn't recommend giving them any information.

That person was here nearly 2 years ago. They aren't going to return to answer your question. Based on the other posts in this thread, I can tell you that she didn't get the free month since this is a scam.
