Number appeared on a letter that came in the mail about warranty coverage on my sister's car (she just bought a car recently) and that she was asked to call right away for coverage. The letter stated her car's make and model and showed a representative picture of the car. It mentioned the usual spiel "if the factory warranty has expired you will be financially liable for all repairs" and "our records indicate that you have not contacted us to update your service contract". No company name was mentioned. A deadline of July 31 was mentioned as well.

Left on hold for over eight minutes, then they disconnected.

Wow, you are certainly persistent!  Most people would not have stayed on "hold" with an incoming call for more than 8 seconds before hanging up on the caller.  But, you stuck in there for more than 8 minutes and because of that, look at all the information you learned about the caller and have imparted to the readers here... Oh, wait... you learned and told us - Nothing!
