- WR| 3 repliesIgnore the people claiming this is a scam. They are uninformed, paranoid and stubborn. Under your health insurance contract you are obligated to inform your insurer if you were involved in an accident or injury where another insurance could be liable. Trover is sent claims from the health insurance with only minimal claims information - NOT medical history/treatment. If you read the letter carefully it's clear that the only questions Trover needs answered are 1) were you hurt due to someone else's negligence 2) would another insurance be responsible for the medical coverage. That's it. If you do not wish to provide personal information (DOB/address/phone) then that's completely fine. You are only required to answer the aforementioned questions. By not complying then you are at risk for payment retractions or termination of your coverage.

- Badge714 replies to WRBackdoor spam. Reported to Admin. Isn't it amazing how people just 'magically' show up on 800 notes for no other reason but to write a glowing report about a business?
- not true replies to Current employee| 1 replyI called my insurance company and I was told they do not know who you are.
- not true replies to not trueI did not even say I was involved in any kind of accient to begin with.
- Boalso just received this letter. letterhead shows a different phone# now: 800-810-8160.
call the hubby & me uninformed, but this is the first time we've ever heard the word Subrogation... and the hubby has had ongoing medical care for years.
and call us stubborn, but we have no intention of calling Trover unless our insurance company informs us in writing that we must.
in our case, we can't fathom what Trover is hoping to learn. There was no "accident" as their letter implies- what they are inquiring about was a pre-approved investigative procedure directly relating to the ongoing condition.
Justia shows 23 lawsuits filed re Trover/ Healthcare Recoveries, including at least one class-action and one in which an insurance company is the plaintiff

- PaulEC replies to CTS in PAAlso rec'd letter from Trover Solutions for Humana. Called phone number and it was disconnected!! (Alarms then went off in my thick skull!!) I then called Humana and they said there was no record of any problems with my account. They didn't know how Trover got my records. They then noted on my file that I had been contacted for a possible identity theft scam.. In the future I will be doing a Google phone search before calling anyone I don't know.
- WilI received a letter for services 9/10/2015. First of all I don't remember that appt as it's not on my calendar. Secondly if I were in an accident I would've told my attending physician and it would've been noted. Thirdly, I read other comments and they have different phone numbers to call, are there different numbers for every city..I hear what others are saying about them being legit but I'm still skeptical since the info they need should be in my patient notes..

- Hpapygtam replies to Geronimo| 1 replyResponse to GERONIMO in ref to MRS A. comment... . She's absolutely correct.. YOU are NOT obligated to give out any information related to your health care and that's per BCBS. You are absolutely insert NO obligation to even calm this 3rd party VENDOR .
- Hpapygtam replies to HpapygtamExcuse the bad auto correct errors in the last sentence of my post... UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO EVEN CALL THE 3RD PARTY VENDOR...
- Ann replies to CTS in PAI also received a letter from Trover Solutions wanting information on my hospital stay last year (tripped and broke my ankle in my home). I called my medical insurance carrier BCBS and they confirmed Trover was legit and hired by them. They also said (when I asked what would happen if I ignored the letters) that BCBS will reclaim what they pay out to the hospital until I answered Trover. It was a pleasant conversation and the agent even called Trover for me to update the claim and state that no other party was responsible. I was given a confirmation # and told I will not receive any more letters from Trover. My advice is, call your insurance carrier to confirm they hired Trover Solutions and then answer the letter. Very simple to do. We do have to be careful today because of scams and identity theft so our being upset and stressed over these letters from Trover is an understandable concern. Good luck!

- Blakeslee replies to KamlaIt is not legit; probably an identity fraud attempt. I have been repeatedly contacted about a claim with a major insurer that was settled a while ago. They want private info from unsuspecting victims, no other explanation possible
- robGot a letter from Gibson & Scott threatening me in an attempt to intimidate me into calling them with the hope that my healthcare claim could be denied by the Blue Cross/Shield [***].
The letter was signed try the Scumbag lawyer in charge of these threatening letters, Anthony J. Kern.
Anthony J. Kern's linkedin profile is at www.linkedin.com/in/anthony-kern-546a0157 , and he is the bloodsucker attorney that signed the letters that many people are getting because his task is to help his insurance-company clients pay little or no money toward your settlement.
Anthony J. Kern's phone number is 502-214-8991. Give him a friendly call if you are being harassed and threatened unnecessary by Gibson & Sharp, Trover, or Equian. These companies are all one in the same, BTW. They can play a shell game by using a different names to confuse and further intimidate consumers/policy holders. - Roger replies to KamlaCall your health insurance provider. If you're visit to the doctor was due to an injury they inquire weather you are pursuing legal action against anyone. In my case everything checked out ok.
- John R.I just got a letter from Gibson & Sharps, representing Equian, a vendor for Highmark Blue Shield. I called the number and it was totally automated and asked three questions. Was it work related? Was it automobile related? Was it on another person's property? I answered no to all three and it said that was all that they needed and hung up.
- Katie| 1 replyI had a call and a letter from this company. They claim they are hired by BCBS. She had basic information on my hospitalization but because it had a vague billing code attached to it they inquired if someone else would be responsible for the claim (accident, workers comp, etc.) I told her I was not comfortable disclosing my medical details but I could assure her that my hospitalization was not caused by someone else. She said that was good enough for her and that if I should get any other letters to disregard. They are not a collection agency, my insurance already paid in full and I paid my co-pay in full.

- B-Edwards replies to KatieThere a some insurance scams that start this way - it could be a sleezy outfit trying to see if they can make some additional claims on your hospital stay.
The question on liability offers some insight. In the case of an accident, your insurance company wants to make sure they can go after the person who is legally responsible for the accident.
This process called Subrogation. If you hit a tree by accident and are injured, the medical claims are paid for by your insurance. If you injured in an accident and the other driver is a fault, your insurance company will go to that drivers insurance company to recover the costs of your claim.
As I understand it, there are outside auditors who review claims to see if they can recover payments made in the case of the liability being on another person. - NikkiI got same letter with event number to reference.
I called BCBS directly and they said it's a scam as all claims and verifications come directly through BCBS.- Call type: Scam suspicion
