- AE (Victoria BC)Call display number ID: 1-800-704-5952 on Mar 29 2023 5:23PM PDT.
Message left on my voicemail: "the credit card. You made a purchase for $120.40 at Coda Shop which was declined. For your account's protection we have temporarily blocked your card for further verification. Please call us back on our toll free number: 1-800-704-5952. Thank you."
When I called the number back today, I blocked my own number from displaying at their end by first entering *67, then the 800 number where I reached a recorded announcement that answered with "RBC Fraud Prevention Centre, please hold for an agent”. Shortly after, a human answers with "Alex Murphy, how may I help you?". I remained silent while he continued to try to engage before eventually hanging up. I went online to RBC's website where I could not find this 1-800 number listed anywhere. I tried calling the contact number listed on their website 1-800-769-2512, but after jumping through all their stupid robot screening questions, the wait time to speak to a real agent was over an hour, so I gave up. Trying to report it online to the 'Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre' was also a hurdle of obstacles, so gave up there too. It shouldn't be this difficult....- Caller: RBC Fraud Prevention Ctre

- LLWhile reviewing my saved messages on our landline, I came across the message from RBC Credit Card Loss Prevention mentioning a purchase for $120.40 at Coda Shop. They said my card had been suspended which made me curious as I have been using it without problem. I googled the phone number which led me here. Now I know it really was a scam.
