"Angela McCloud" called to say she was following up on a notice I "may have overlooked" on lowering my Ohio Edison electric bill. "Oh, and be sure to have your bill handy when you call so we can review." She called before 9 a.m. That's a no-no for a legitimate business. At best, this was a company trying to get me to switch carriers.

Federal law says that they can call from 8 am to 9 pm your time, so unless State law says otherwise, then the call was ok.   Now the intent would be a different story.

Got the same message as Herb.  I don't have Ohio Edison.

Just got the same at 1115 here in Florida. We haven't lived in Ohio in almost 5 years and those bills were not in my name. I will say that it appeared to be a real person as she did actually trip over her words when she said to have my bill handy

"Angela Mcloud " Called! Oh why of course Angela tell me how to lower my electric bills!? Would you like my social security card # and credit card number too azzhat?

Yes, this is a scam call. They called us in an area that Ohio Edison isn't servicing. They want your information on your bill so they know who you are and can steal your information to further their scam.

"Angela McCloud" called several times about my Ohio Edison bill. Too bad I am not a subscriber to Ohio Edison. Scam City!!

My husband spoke to "Angela" and asked her if she works for Ohio Edison. Silence. Then he asked, "what's the name of the company you are working for" and she said I work for many companies. No matter what he asked her, the answer was very evasive. He finally said to her, " if the call to us was not on behalf of Ohio Edison that she may as well hang up". She hung up. I understand we have a choice in providers but I research it for myself. Sadly, this must work or they wouldn't call.

Same message from Angela McCloud, leads you to believe there's a problem with your bill and to call back with reference number e******.
Call and got "Debbie" who hung up when asked if this was Ohio Edison.   Makes you wonder what the reference number was for...
Telephone harassment, bogus business representation....this is criminal conduct.

Didn't answer thanks to posts here. The electric bill is not in my name so it probably is a scam

Similar experience - she left a voicemail, ended with surprised sounding 'hello? did you pick up?' just before she hung up.

Receive a call inquiring about my electric bill and it was not from my electric utility company.  I told her that I don't talk to unsolicited phone calls from telemarketers.

Same stuff here. What is bad around here the fake Ohio Edison comes to ur door also and demands to see ur bill. I always refuse but once the guy pushed his way into my home and i used Bear Mace on him and the police halled him off for criminal trespassing. I heard he got six mths.

Exact same message as listed here, Angela McCloud.  She sounds more legit then most, scam.

Called 6 times consecutively around 3:30 in the afternoon.  Didn't leave a message.

My company Duke Energy told me 2 times a year other companies can call to see if you can save money with them. the catch is you still have to pay the rider and delivery fee of your company also theres. I told Duke can I get on Do Not call list for that? they said yes and put me on it I called Duke several times and ask if I was still on the do not call list they said yes and I said how comes they call me then and they said when I was put on Do not call list if they had my number before then they can not do nothing about it and they told me to tell them no I keep my company do not call me back or I will report your company. This company was told by me to do not call so I will report them and they can get in trouble for not stopping the calls. So I do not answer them anymore caller id on and phone off line and when I see number on TV I do not answer or call them back.
