A recorded message.

Left a recorded message on my answering machine.  When I called back I was sent to a representative who wanted payment on my Charter account.  Asked if I wanted to pay by check and asked for routing and bank account information.

This number has left me messages and called me several times in the past year. When I spoke to the local Charter communications they verified that there was not a balance on my bill and that possibly the call from this number was not really Charter. The amount that the 800 number said I owed was NEVER the amount of my actual bill ever, so it seems really suspicious. Also, when you call the 800-713-9785, and listen to the recording, they want a check by phone payment......strange!

recorded call from Matt asking to call to talk to a customer care rep at charter - sounded very dodgy so i checked it out and glad i did - obvious scam. did not call.

unknown caller ID, left this message to call this number 800-713-9785 to call and talk to one of there representatives.   This can not be charter, charter will leave a message saying it is charter and the recording is a female voice and it's the same female voice everytime.  this is obviously a way for someone to get your banking information.  I never give my info over the phone. no adays you don't know who the person really is.

unavailable caller ID, Matt asking me to call immediately.  Message when I called stated it was charter and they were adding $4.99 to my bill for using that number instead of calling them directly.  I hung up, called Charter, and they admitted it was them.  Ironically, they said it was for a bill 90 days over due.  I've only had charter for less than 60 days.

Is this call really from Charter?   If so, I don't know why I am getting it since my account is paid up to date.

Please advise.

Call from Matt, message left on my machine.  Amount(s) reqested when I called back was/were not anything like my monthly charges.  Thankful I hesitated to enter my account information and looked the telephone number up.  Have not called Charter yet.  My telephone is also unlisted - very strange.

Recorded message from a female voice stating they are from Charter. I don't know what Charter is and why they'd call. Did not respond to the message.

Received a call last night stating they were from charter and there was a balance on my bill which I could pay off free of charge over the phone.  I always pay my bill in full so I was a little suspicious but for some reason I thought maybe I had written the wrong amount on the check.  I started to give the 1st four numbers of my credit card and decided to check further into it and I'm glad I did because it's a SCAM!
