Debt collector, my advise dont put it off call them and work out a payment plan. You owe the money just take care of it thats what I did. They were polite and more than willing to work with me (no yelling or screaming just a conversation on how this will be resolved) . If you have extra money ask for a settlement. If you put it off intersest will add up on it.

What happened is, the whole concept of consumer rights has been diluted by huge corporations in bed with congress, regardless of party affiliation.  Until we rise up somehow, we will continue to hosed.  As for lawyers acting as debt collectors, did you need proof that most (not all) lawyers are scum?

Yes, I agree. All these people that take advantage of people who don't know or just don't have the time to deal with these situations after the fact will in burn in HELL, HELL I say. It does not make sense for people to treat others any kind of way. If someone gets into a bad situation and then later gets back on their feet and is willing to settle the amount that they owe then these scum a-- companies should be happy. If they decide to write-off the debt then they should write it off and leave it at that. They probably get some type of tax credit or something for having to write-off credit so they may benefit. For the most part, people can't help unforseen circumstances. I hope if these creeps or anyone else with this type of nasty attitude can deal with situations they encounter. How would they handle it? Probably would/could not because they are so use to being scum and taking money from others.

    RE:
    Good news!!
Messerli & Kramer's website isn't even working as of 04.19.10. They are already in trouble no matter how Lori Swanson, Minnesota Attorney General protects them. Report these unethical attorneys to the proper authorities:
These attorneys are the reason we have credit problems in this country. every other commercial on television is regarding credit card debt. And yes, you can blame them as well as you for using easy credit in which they represent.
Repeatedly email and report those who unethically use the law in their behalf, we must become as aggressive as they are in order to succeed. I do it everyday as should you!

    Report them to:

    1. Eric J. Holder, U.S. Attorney General* First Contact!!!
    2. Federal Trade Commision
    3. BBB in your state
    4. BBB in Minnesota or where these vermin practice law
    5. Lawyer Professional Board in your state

We must work together in order to shut these firms down. If enough of us do this, WE The People, have that power. I am enabling as many proficient attorneys as well as influential people to do so, as should you.

Now, let's get started and punish those who disgrace true licensed professional and give attorneys a bad name, Thank you, Messerli & Kramer, ect.

These scammers are more than aggressive. They are rude, lie, add charges, and prey upon the old, sick and poor. President OBama will shut these scammers down.
What type of person attends school for 12 years to become a bill collector?

    Dishonest ones.

Advocate, you are the reason debt collectors have a poor reputation.  Talking down to people is now way to build advocacy and typing in all caps is poor style.  Have some class.

I get a call from this number two or three times a day every single day.  They always call from a variety of different numbers for obvious reasons.  They are Weltman, Weinberg & Reis and this is their website that came up on a search: http://www.weltman.com/.

I have no idea why they are calling me as I do not have any debts or owe anyone money.  I also have an unpublished private phone number; go figure.  I am not sure what to do to get them to stop except report them to do not call.gov website.  Anyone have any ideas on how to get them to stop calling?

    Irritated
They keep calling me and I too have no debt that is unpaid. I call them back and it always goes into a voice mail box. Wondering if they are calling in regards to someone else who put me down as a contact. Getting really annoyed by their calls though.
