postcard has this phone number on it, DIRECT AGENT --  Motor Vehicle Services Department for factory warranty expiration. very unlikely this is the manufacturer. Mailed from St Louis MO (no zip) permit 3252

I received a postcard (TSB) NOTICE, which is a scam. The Identification number is not a Manufacturer TSM:  this company is trying to scam people into calling and purchasing a warranty contract. Many people will probably pay them with a credit card and never get a warranty.

Same here. The postcard made it sound as though due to certain recall issues that had not been fixed, I would be responsible for costs that the warranty would have covered otherwise. Realized while I was on the phone with them that they were running the "warranty" scam to purchase another warranty even though the car is still covered.

Same stuff..bogus Tech Svce Bulletin notice to entice for BS warranty service. Get a life you guys!

I got a card, too.  Scared me, but I was a little suspicious.  Checked this site before I called.  So glad I did.  Thanks, everyone.  This is such a helpful forum.
The front of the card looks a little bit official.  In red is says "Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) NOTICE".  Then it has the year and make of my car with some strange registration ID number and their toll-free number.  The back of the card says:
"Failure to activate repair protection will place you financially responsible for vehicle repair cost after the Manufacturer's Factory Warranty expires.  The "In-Service-Date" of your vehicle determines the status of your vehicle's Factory Warranty and Eligibility.
"You have received this written TSB Notice because your phone number appears on the National/Stat/Internal (in bold and caps) DO NOT CALL list.  Outbound TSB Notice by phone contact is not allowed to owners that appear on any of these lists.
"We respect your privacy and your response is required prior to the cutoff date listed above for your vehicle to remain in its current eligibility status.  Due to Technical Service issues related to your vehicle (in bold) RESPONSE BEFORE THE INSPECTION CUTOFF DATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO WAIVE ALL INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS.
"To better serve you, have your vehicle's mileage when you call for qualification.
"Mechanical breakdowns associated with Technical Service issues can be covered by activating the qualified repair protection for your vehicle that pays the cost of future covered repairs.  Vehicle Inspection will be waived when qualification response is made (underlined) BEFORE THE CUTOFF DATE.
"Call 1-800-718-4228 to activate your repair protection.
(In small type) "Technical Service Bulletins are provided by your vehicle manufacturer and repair facilities, hours for repair work are provided by labor rate repair manual.  (in bold) United Auto Defense (UAD) is not associated with your vehicle Manufacturer and provides Vehicle Service Contracts issued by insured administrators to protect vehicle owners from the high cost of Technical Service related vehicle repairs."

There at the bottom in small type is the truth.  They are not associated with my manufacturer at all.  Such a ruse.  My mom's husband in his 80's fell for this and purchased additional warranty on his recently purchased car.  These people are terrible.  How do they sleep at night?

Same thing.  TSB Notice; did not call.  Checked google first.  This is an outrageous practice and there should be some sort of fraud law that covers predatory sales as was the case in the mortgage industry.  They must be making lots of money to get postage paid cards out there.  As an individual said above, GET A LIFE!

My elderly parents received a postcard from these fraudsters in the mail.  The notification warns you about TSBs and urges you to call by a cutoff date to avoid a vehicle inspection for your automobile warranty.  I was suspicious so I did some research.  The truth about the fraud is actually printed on the reverse side of the postcard in the fine print:

"United Auto Defense (UAD) is not associated with your vehicle Manufacturer and provides Vehicle Service Contracts issued by insured administrators to protect vehicle owners from the high cost of Technical Service related vehicle repairs."

I just called; company name is Untied Auto Defense. Pretty much a scam; states that they have to contact me because once the manufacture is "aware there is 200,000 to 300,000 problems with a vehicle they have to contact and offer me an additional contract"..... NOTICE he said 200,000 to 300,000 problems on my ONE YEAR ONE Hyundai! We went back and forth on this statement among others until I told the idiot he was a scam; not to send this crap to my home and don't call.... they actually had my work number (how I do not know). I'm calling Hyundai, this is fraudulent or close to it. Scam artist!

This is a business (United Auto Defense) that tries to scare you into purchasing additional, useless, "extended vehicle warranty coverage".  They call and send mail designed to imitate official/urgent/legitimate communication (including fake Technical Service Bulletin references) from the manufacturer.  They appear to partner with other businesses who distribute your information for similar "offers".

I have a 2010 Toyota Prius.  I received an official looking postcard about a TSB Notice too!  I was suspicious and googled the phone number given.  I'm glad I did.  Thanks for all your reples.

Postcard with this phone number. Every effort to make it look legit, but it's the usual auto warranty scam. Avoid.

Many manufacturer warranties last only 5 years for most of the vehicle.
You will be getting more postcards and also phone calls from these rip-off businesses for at least a year.
That has been my experience.
