800-754-5530

Called my cellphone on 1/15/2020 at 10 AM and CID displayed 1-800-754-5530 and a VM was left. The message that was left was this:
"Will get disconnected in 30 minutes due to a pending balance on the account. Please call the direct billing department at 1-800-721-7830 to avoid power disconnection. Thank you for choosing Pepco"
I know for a fact that it's not Pepco calling because they don't have my cellphone number on file with there company and the number they left doesn't belong to Pepco either. I called Pepco directly using the phone number on my statement and reported this to Pepco. According to Pepco, this is scam call.

Same experience: Same message, same number to call back (1-800-721-7830) to avoid disconnection by Pepco. But my ID showed the call came from 800-908-6698. I guess they spoof different numbers all the time to avoid being found out and blocked.

Correct. Once you block there number, the scammers will usually call from a different number. In my case, they called back again that night using the same number  already in my block list.
