Trying to collect an unpaid electric bill. Tried to pass themself off as TECO BILLING.DEPT.

Called my stores (in Wisconsin) posing as local utility, said my bill was very overdue, service wd be terminated same day unless paid by cash. Be alert.

called and collected $400 from me. didnt no it was a scam

If you paid by debit/credit card notify your bank about the fraud immediately.  If you paid any other way you are probably out of luck.  Notify your utility so that they can warn other customers, notify your local PD, and then start doing research before paying scammers like this so that you don't become a victim of a crime.  Note that they now have your name down on the easy marks list and will call back and will sell your name to other criminals as well.

called our business line threatening to cut off our digital service unless we paid close to $400.  i searched the number and got this report.  when i asked him why this number was reported as fraud, he said 'what are you some kind of detective?'... just hang up.
