Keeps calling me at work and is going to get me fired because I am not allowed to recieve personal phone calls like that.. I told her that and she still continues to call me.

These people out of the blue started calling my cell about 3 weeks ago.  They never leave a message.  Today they called my work and my Parent's home number.  I called them to find out what was going on and they have my Social security number, and an address from almost 12 years ago!!! They say it's for my student loan, which I paid off years ago...these people are telling me that I owe $12K and it's all interest!!! WHAT??? They told me they got this debt from a company called ECM and previously SLM...I tried to explain to the lady that I've not received anything in writing, and I've never heard of those companies and that if I still owed $$ Then why would they wait years to contact me and collect on it...I don't have this debt and settled with this debt years ago.  How can they harass me on a daily basis, as well as my work and Parent's home. And then Threaten to garnish my wages for a debt that I don't owe.  If there was a mistake and I still owed on this then why did it take years for them to contact me, how is that not dishonest?? that would mean that for years they sat on this and let it accrue interest...that is UNBELIEVABLE!!! I will be contacting a lawyer and they have been advised to NOT contact me again! They wanted my current address...funny the people I settled this with have my current address...I'm sick and furious!

recv'd the same call.  asked me first for my social sec number.  Unbelievable.  I hung up.

Oh My Heavens!!!!! They asked your SSN? Its absurd! I answered and did not check the number then looked quick and slammed down the receiver.

This number kept calling me every-other day and when I tried to ask who it was they just called me again and didn't leave a message.  If it is a debt collector I must have someone else's old phone number.       ( cuz I don't have any debt!)

Progressive Financial Services indeed called my place of employment and left a VM with the reception to call back for a personal matter. The number left was 1-800-761-0563 and to speak with Courtney. I have seen their letters before in the past so I knew this had to be about my student loans. When I called them yes right away they ask you for your name and SS# and I was already hesitant from that point. So I just gave them my name and right from the bat they told me my DOB and SS# and to verify. After avoiding my student loans for 13 years and I finally decided to setup a payment plan with them. They are a legit collection agency and collecting debts for ECM who bought out my original student loan from Sallie Mae. They were able to verify my outstanding principal loans and old address they have been sending notices to so I kind a figure this company isn't Fraud. They just went to far though to call me at my place of employment. But for people out there unsure of the number or the company they are just a collection agency based out of Arizona I believe. NEVER pay anyone who calls or even mails you letters unless they mail you proof that you owe the debt to them!  People on this thread are getting calls even though they've paid off their student loans, and others did not have student loans to begin with!

Received a call from 8007610563 they asked for me i asked who was calling. She said bianca may this call be recorded? I said no i am not speaking with you because i dont know what company youre with. She replied, "you didnt ask." My response: "i will not speak with you because you are being rude." Click. Dont call someone and play games...

received a call from Ryan at my place of employment; he immediately went into asking me to verify my SS# & DOB, of which I told him both were incorrect and what was the purpose of his call. He asked for my SS# direct and I told him absolutely not. He then asked if I knew any other person's with my same name - he ignored any request I had of what was the intent of his call. He hung up. Second day he called my employer HR dept and asked for "employment verification". She asked for his request in writing on company letterhead (our policy) he stated he was not allowed to do so and immediately asked her for my ss#. HR denied and asked him what he had, she then told him the number was incorrect and he said he mixed up some paperwork and was trying to get it straightened out, would she give him my number. Again she denied, at which point I intercepted the call- again asked for the purpose of his call (no answer), told him he had the right name, wrong person and that if he would like to send a written affadavit, I would gladly have it notarized that I am not this person, but that he was not to ever call my employer again, and that his practices were intrusive and illegal. He hung up again. I called their number back and spoke with Melanie Adkins, told her to never contact me or my employer again at this number, for them to get their information straight, I am not the person they are looking for and that their calls are harrassing. I reported to both the AG & FTC about their illegal business practices.

Asking for Sharon said she gave this # as her work number.  My personal cell phone then asked if I had her number.  I have no idea who the *^*( they want keeps asking me for her number. REALLY!!!

Someone called from this number and said nothing, no one on the other end or no one was talking.

Progressive Financial - they are a debt collector for student loans. Sometime they leave a message, but usually they don't.

After 13 years you no longer have an obligation to pay. The statute of limitations is usually only 6 to 7 years.

This number calls my office every single day at least twice a day. I say hello two times, then they disconnect.

Let it roll to voicemail, and it put my voicemail on hold - an operator finally picked up - "hello" - no other info.

They now are calling me at work and I don't know how they got my number but isn't that some form of harrassment as well.

I KNOW WHO I OWE MONEY TO, PERIOD!!!
They can call me until they're blue in the face about some bogus student loan if they want.
The mistake I made several years ago was changing how I appear in the phone book. I removed my first name and just went with first initial instead. I did that because the phone company said if I go with first initial only, telemarketers will leave you alone. Since then people have used my first initial, last name and home phone to commit "financial crimes". So now I get calls with the correct last name, but several different names starting with the first letter of my name. I will not pay any debt I do not owe. Come after me. Take me to court all you want. I'll end up collecting from you though!
This company, if in fact it is Progressive, just became blocked number 38 on my call blocker. Oh, they can call with a different number of they choose. I have 9962 more numbers I can block if needed. I WIN!!

Calls once every week since August. I never pick up and they never leave a message. I have no outstanding debt other than student...
