The phone rings, then I answer then they don't say anything. I consider it very rude, that some rotten airhead would do this in this day and age.

just phoned now at 8:50pm. No message. Shouldnt they be at home with their families at this hour?

Called at 7:53pm, dead air and then call disconects.

have had frequent calls from this number but no one is there.  Annoying to get severals each week withno one even there.  I think it's telemarketing in my opinion. I worked as a telemarketer so this charity has a really [***] autodialer or not enough people working for them for the calls to be just dead air.  Some useless telemarketers just hang up when you answer those people just put in the hours for the lousy $8 an hour.

no response when call answered, just dead air, then they hang up, most inconsiderate and rude.  If it is someone looking for donations this certainly is not the way to do it, they will get nothing from me, ever.

same thing - call came at 5:00 p.m. on a SUNDAY!

they only seem to call me during the morning .... problem is I work graveyards and the phone is across the room, and I can't turn it off in case I miss an important call

I DO NOT WANT ANY MORE CALLS from 761-2172  I have a dissabilty and these calls are a pain and disruption and get me up as I live with  high pain levels  Please stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phone rings, I answer, dead air, then disconnected. This is annoying. I'm on the Do Not Call list, but it doesn't stop these people. If it's a charity, as the posts suggest, then there has to be a government agency that knows who the number is registered to. Or the telephone company must know, and they can block the number.

Call the number, if you can get through they give alternate number, call that, there is choice to be taken off THEIR Do not call list, enter your number (can't be blocked etc.)  Hope for the best1  It's BC Epilepsy Society.  Very poor PR !!

The man/s name was Arnot... Made me believe he knew my husband and then when I asked what it concerned .... he responded with "well.... I guess he will have to tell you that... now wont he... "and hung up.... What a jerk.... I am so mad I searched and got here.... Maybe if they see all the posts they will fire Arnot....

Epilepsy Society of British Columbia is not shown as a registered charity on the Charities Division website -- therefore is not exempt from the no call list, and is likely not charitable.  Be aware that telephone solicitors even for registered charities keep AT LEAST 50 PERCENT OF WHAT THEY COLLECT -- SOMETIMES MUCH MORE.

A little advice from me.. do you have a call display? If  you see that that number starts with 800 do not answer!! That's what I do all the time. It is so annoying!

Yup, same number as the rest of your are reporting. So what? There is nobody around to do anything about it...

The "no call" list, is a bunch of BS.

We never answer the phone, just let everything hit the answering machine.

To check if a Charity is registered in Canada, go to the Federal Government site -

You search by the charity name in the search box with a drop list of categories of Charities (example: revoked, annulled, etc). It will show if a charity is listed.

All charities in any Province in Canada must register with the Federal Government of Canada if they are to obtain charity (Tax deduction) status.

Another unwanted call for the evening. This one at 8.22pm from 1-800-761-2172. When I picked up (I am in good mood to answer unwanted calls today :)), just got dialtone. This one number too goes to blocked callers list on my Panasonic. Glad I invested in this phone instrument.
