Telemarketer from RBC = Royal Bank of canada, calls my cell abut 4 times a day. I did answer it once, to find out who and why, swore at the idiot profusely - He must have liked it because they are still calling me 4x a day.  Your favourite bank to be annoyed and ripped off by, I have NEVER dealt with RBC and NVER will.!!

I called these Royal bank telemarketers TWICE to ask nicely to have my number removed from their 'lists', the guys I spoke to are part of the 'business telemarketing' and a 'cut above' the normal personal bankers, or so they THINK... They were nice enough - just ineffective and impotent obviously, RBC still calls me 4x a day, from this number thankfully so I can block it out totally.
RBC why do you waste your time like this?
RBC customers, you are paying for these guys...?!? They will NEVER get any business using these tactics and in fact I would avoid RBC based on this harrassment.

This is not RBC. I bank with them and called the number on the back of my card to confirm it was them calling as the calls seemed fishy. The number showed up as 1-1-800-769-2509 in my cell and RBC does not have my cell number. When o tried calling the double 1 number it wouldn't go through but 1-800-769-2509 did. When I rang through a very believable RBC recording came on but it only asked to press 1 for English, 2 for French. The man that picked up knew my name immediately and asked for my verbal password which I did not share. He told me he couldn't help me and that was the end of the call.

After hanging up I called RBC using the number on the back of my card and both the credit and debit card divisions had no notes that anyone from RBC was trying to contact me and both ladies I spoke with said 1-800-769-2509 was NOT an RBC phone number. This is a complete scam.

I got a call regarding my business account which seemed phony. The line was very bad and the caller said she was calling to ask me how pleased I was about my first 3 months with my new business account. She knew my name and company account and had me confirm that was my company. She offered to call back at another time because it was a bad line after I confirmed it was my company. I called the same number back and got the bilingual number asking me whether I wanted french or englsh and got through to an agent right away after choosing english. The agent told me I was calling RBC's business line and I told him I was trying to verify that it was a legitimate call and number. He suggested I call the number on the back of my card. I called the number on the back of my card and got through to a customer service agent. She told me that 1 800 769 2509 IS the Royal Bank Business Department and that they were calling me just to see if they were meeting my needs and if there is anything else they can do for me. So there you have it.. it IS an RBC number.

I was getting calls like this months ago (from a different number which I can't remember now) and the line was also bad. Callers were always accented (as was this one) and they seemed kind of out of it. I went into the head branch of the RBC and they explained to me that no one from the RBC will call me like this and that this was a scam, NOT from the RBC. I was not asked for the number by an employee I spoke to who did not seem like the most professional employee (crazy clown make up, a revealing blouse, weird manner and the type who seems to know it all without hearing anything). I called the fraud department the next day and they took my info and told me I should call a fraud watch line (which I did). The fraud watch line told me they had 38 calls for this number and if they got more calls they would endeavour to get the number shut down. There would be no investigation or other action, just get the phone company to deactivate the number once enough complaints came in (!!!). I called RBC back quite worried and they told me there was nothing they could do for me and hung up. I called back 2 more times, before I was eventually I was put through to the fraud dept and someone there pretended to take me seriously. They made up a ticket for me that was sent via email and another email came a short while later showing the ticket was closed. Nothing really happened in the ticket other than a report of my incident. This was a little charade to make me feel like I was being taken seriously.

After all of this my conclusion is that 800 769 2509 IS the RBC's business telemarketing line in India or some far flung cut rate land o low wages and they are trying to sell $hit. I think bank staff are often not aware of this and tell you what sounds reasonable/logical to them based on their knowledge (or lack thereof). It is also possible that some staff are aware but are trained not to reveal that they hound their customers like this. As long as they make money off of it from some customers who buy more services, the RBC will keep doing this. This is a disreputable business practice.

Our store has received 4-5 calls from this number just for a morning.
It should be a 3rd party contracted telemarketing company of RBC.
So even RBC headquarters staff know nothing about that.
If you don't feel comfortable answering calls like this one, just ignore them.

Our office got a missed call from this caller but there wasn't a message.
One of us called back the number, the line couldn't go through and was hung up then.
Is it a RBC telemarketing number? It's hard to tell once they might contract out the jobs with 3rd party agents.

I have been getting numerous calls like this - all begin with 647-800, including this one. Never any caller ID, never leave voice mail. I called back on them - and got an automated message which said lines were busy and hung up. I called this number, and got a recording that sounded like the RBC's  - but when someone live took my call and immediately asked for private account information, I did not proceed.

    The correct number for RBC's retail banking is 1 800 769 2511.

    Very annoying and unethical.

Why don't you just block the number on your cell phone?

I live in Canada and I keep getting calls from this number too.
If i find out that RBC is behind these annoying (no voicemail calls), I will close my RBC accounts.
This is harassment - unless I owe you the money, or something sever has happened, I don't want to hear from my bank.

Or it's a scammer spoofing the number. Why are you even here since you already know who called you?
