Interesting, Ann.  I received a call from a solar company right BEFORE I received the 609 call.  More than just a coincidence, I would say.  I called them back and got the same "political call" message.

get calls from this number 3-4 times daily for past two weeks.  No one ever responds after I've answered by saying "hello", a few seconds later line goes silent.  Very annoying!  They call early in the morning, late at night (after 10 pm local time) and all times in between.

Easy answer, The Feckless Congress thinks of the people before themselves,

They pass the proper legislation, TO CONTROL COMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES allowing calls to complete.

They don't because COMMUNICATIONS COMPANIES have lobbyist's, and lobbyist's have money and trips and parties, for "OUR" political leaders.

Your post is very confusing, you must be a very confused person.  The first part of the post seems to go in one direction, while the last sentence goes in the opposite.  Are you trying to compliment your congress or are you trying to degrade your congress?

Called and asked for us by name.  Wouldn't talk to them. They said they'd call back later.  I told them not to.  Very force-ably they said they would.  WTF!

This number calls my phone at least once per day M - F and sometimes more than once. There is never anyone there and when the number is called back there is a recording stating that the number is to "keep me politically informed" and that it's exempt from the Federal "Do Not Call" list.... I would like these calls to cease and desist at once. Is there any help for this?

It rings until answering machine picks it up then they hang up. If I answer the phone they hang up. This is everyday twice-three times a day seven days a week. Im sick of it.

Maybe these calls are coming from the Donald Trump public opinion survey.  That would explain why they hang up the moment someone tries to talk to them!

Call every day, often 2 or 3 times. Says Toll Free Caller on ID. They never leave a message and we do not answer....just an aggravation we would like to be rid of.

Very interesting... I also got a sales call from a solar company shortly before this came in.  Didn't answer, and no message left.  Now blocked.

P.S.  I just checked Caller ID and in fact received the EXACT 609-582-4127 call at 4:59 p.m., and this 800-769-7214 call at 7:04 p.m.   So they are definitely related.  Both blocked now!  Thanks for the heads up!

All this pestering is just another form of terrorism.  They don’t care that they can’t actually get you to answer the phone, they just want to bug you.  Hope it costs them money, without any real productivity or financial results.  I ignore them, and they tire out.  If it were to attempt to sell us something, they won’t succeed by pestering people; so it must be harassment.

Same here!  Something smells fishy!   The phone co's are reaping a windfall at the expense of our privacy and the castle doctrine!  Someone with $ needs to file a class action suit against the major telecommunication co's and the FCC for redress!  This country is losing it's freedom by the hands of an evil minority!

They call from this number everyday. We do not answer yet they persist. Don't know how to stop them. I do not answer, they do not leave a message. I hope they give up soon.

If they want a political suggestion, how about supporting someone who would be willing to enforce the Do Not Call registry. Companies far and wide know they will not get any push back from the government for pestering everyone who owns a phone. It is a shame.

Several missed calls per day from this number. Try to answer so I can tell them not to call but even on first ring, no one is there. When I called back, says its political and exempt from do not call rules.  Wonder if they are exempt from harassment?  It's one thing to have missed calls, but have calls coming in when you're home and no one is there, that's harassment.
