- DCWhy is this "NRA" company even calling me? My credit report is SPOTLESS -- it has to be, or I have no job in the morning! They don't leave messages and when I tried to call back I got this (scratchy old) recording. A few weeks ago they kept calling for 2 people that my landlord and I had never heard of having our #s or our addresses. I'm contacting my state attorney general's consumer help email thing.

- AnonymousThey never leave a message, back to back calls, I just block them and put them into a group where ALL telemarketers/scammers are blocked on my phone when I put them into a group I use "V.I.P." Very Irriting People. My phone never rings, it goes straight to VM and I just assign a name to the caller that starts with the letter Z so it doesn't mess up my contact list when I look for someone :-) And I have changed my recording to state that if anyone is not going to leave a message, their calls will be blocked. Works like magic 99.9% of the time...........if that doesn't work.............I use the old tried and true, VERY LOUD WHISTLE in their ears every time they call then I hang up. Never engage in conversation with bottom feeders, it just encourages them and then they have made contact with you.

"National Recovery Agency" has a website and an email address. I sent them this query TWO MONTHS AGO: I have received multiple phone calls about a debt for which I appear to be in arrears. The problem I have is that I am hard of hearing, following a horrific Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Afghanistan. I can't completely understand the service associate on the phone. I can, however, communicate well via email or conventional mail. Please send me the full details of my debt, either in response to this inquiry or via the regular mail system. I am fully committed to satisfying my debt, but I'm not so good at phone conversations, what with my war injury. I thank you for your attention to this matter.

- Budda JrWife received text claiming she owed $2042.47 and they called her by a different name.(Phishing/Scam)
They had all the threats - fair credit reporting, FTC, etc... Blocked!!
BTW, we don't owe anyone. Most people now have debts all over the place because of the economy we live in and they are just trying to make it month to month. These scammers know this in hoping you think you owe someone etc... And, try to convince you to settle on a debt that most of the time isn't yours. These debt collection companies buy debts for pennies on the dollar and then cold call/Text people in hoping to bully you to pay or repercussions in the form of repossession, bad credit, calling your place of employment, and some have even threaten Jail.
Never answer back as they will have your phone listed in their system and will continue relentlessly for debts you don't owe.
NRA - This is a real company that buys debts and goes after anyone gullible to pay them. Every state has a time limitation (Statue of Limitation) which many debts cannot be sued for in any court once it passes that time line. Check online for your states Statue of Limitation for credit, etc... for the time.
If you owe someone, please get counseling from a consumer consolidation company, lawyer, or a reputable representative of your Bank. In most cases, you will more likely not to have to pay; however, you may take a hit on your credit for a short while. Always check with your credit report as some collection companies are now filing against you there first.
Phone scammers will never mail you any letters and never give you an address to mail any letters to them (of course, there are other scams that operate through postal mail and email).
I hope this helps.
