Duke Energy is a Charlotte based electric utility who also owns assets in various parts of the US and some South American countries.

This is scam! It is not duke energy. I confirmed this with duke myself.

This # called my job today saying our electricity was going to be shut off in 45 minutes. Came to find out its a scam.

Name shows up as Duke Energy.....does not leave a message....SCAM

Scam... They tried to sell me power I told them what I was paying per kWh and I was called a liar.

They call every day over and over again.

They call everyday multiple times per day but just hang up. Then they call again and an automated VM is left claiming to be IRS. Threatening to take me into custody for serious allegations.

It is not Duke Energy. The guy called all weekend, and when we called Duke back, it was outside of business hours. Calls multiple times a day, hangs up on my husband, spoke to me asking for a name i did not know, finally my husband answered telling the man "do not call this number again" he responded with "I will call again."  Duke even has a warning on their website about scammers calling as them.

Say this take me off your calling list  and that is all you say

Called a business line saying our lights are getting shut off in 30 minutes. I got off the phone with them to double check. Discovered it was indeed a scam. Called them back at the number they provided 800-506-5987 ext 210 Richard. Started the call like was eager to get this bill caught up and paid. Found we "owed" $1498.43 and we were "late" for 2 billing cycles. LOL! I then informed Richard we do not have Duke and they have been reported. He hung up.

Liars call with Duke Energy's real number forged on Caller ID, but they are scammers.  BEWARE!  Duke doesn't call with threats of power being shut off anyway.  Come on people fight back against these dumb people.  Their REAL number (scam number) is 800-506-5987 -- report the call to the FTC.

I received a call stating my power will be cut in 45 minutes because was overdue.  The caller was a spanish speaking person and found out my cell phone somehow. For his surprise, I'm living in Puerto Rico. I left NC seven years ago.

Spoofed call.  Idiot putting in Duke Energy's phone number, and lying and trying to scam people out of money to keep their power turned on.  Losers obviously don't know how things operate in the United States.

This is a scam call. My bill was paid and said I had to call them because they were going to disconnect my power within 30 minutes.

The caller said that my power was going to be shut down in few minutes because I was late on my bill. I asked what was my account # ... he couldn’t get me it. Called twice . I told him that I was calling the police to report the scam.  Hi called again , and I made a report.

Holiday time---[***] scammers are at it again!  IT IS NOT DUKE as they have SPOOFED!!!

I just got the oddest scam call 800.777.9898 robo called at 11:52 AM and said Duke Energy will disconnect my power in 30 minutes for nonpayment. I checked Duke's website and confirmed that I am current. I then checked my bank and confirmed the same. The number the scammer left to make payments to was 877.601.7411 which I googled and saw that it is a real Duke Energy number for disconnecting service. I called to see what the mixup could be. I spoke to David Rameriz who said I hadn't paid in two months and that I owe almost $500.00 cash. He wasn't interested in the fact that I had paid and could confirm it. He said pay now or we disconnect. I chose not to pay the rude man. All duke offices are closed on Saturdays so I couldn't talk to customer service. I've now waited a couple of hours to head off any possible disconnect truck from Duke.
At work, I needed to deliver audio equipment to a job site but because of this scam, my deliver never happened.

This scam is active again.

800-777-9898  made a big mistake buy calling me. I am able to track him down. I know where he lives. Don't worry be happy,this guy will not be bothering  anybody anymore. He has a big surprise coming Like a 6 by 8 foot room he will be locked up in for one thing. He's going to wish like hell he didn't call me noon June 11 .I can't wait to see the petrified look on his face. I am going to be his last nightmare to bad all you people he tried to rip off can't be there to see him and what happens to him. I been wanting to visit Niagara falls. Will I have a good Houdini movie to watch ,Ps you can be sure he will not be calling you very soon trust me.
