I received this call from the Legal Dept. of Service Canada regarding my social insurance number. They said they are pushing legal enforcement against me and I can goto jail or the dept of justice will contact me in order to avoid legal actions?! This just sounds like a scam

Yup. They just called me too. Told them my name was [***] You. He said same to you. lmao

The agency they're impersonating is the Special Investigations Unit, which is a real entity which exists in Ontario to investigate police involvement in incidents involving death or serious injury.

The real SIU is fairly toothless, as cops who kill civilians often walk away with little more than a slap across the wrist. For instance, the operator of a speeding police cruiser who hit (and killed) our local greengrocer a couple decades ago walked away with a fine of less than C$800 and no other consequences.

There'd be no reason for the SIU to be calling random bystanders with spurious legal threats, nor would their be any reason for them to call to demand your SIN or other personally identifiable information. They called saying I’m under investigation with my ss#.
Told if I don’t call back they’ll be issuing a warrant for my arrest
