No bill collector is allowed to call your job. Tell them to "cease and desist from calling your place of employment.

"Does anyone realize that debt collectors save the average family $2,500 a year in extra costs ?  I would rather you all just said thank you and went about your way.

a HAHAHAHA!  This is the best story I've read yet from the collector scum (not legit collectors! the bottom feeders) who post here, attempting to defend the indefensible.

Boards like this are a godsend to help consumers ferret out scams. And that's what you con artists hate so much, isn't it?

Left message saying this is a message for previous owner of my home. They are trying to collect on a debt. Left a number to call if not person they are looking for. Left different extension if the person they are looking for. Tried calling number. Call did not go through.

I have come home every day to find Quality Asset Recovery's # (856-925-1010) on my caller ID.

I don't return the calls and I erase the messages.  I will not pick up the phone whenever that number pops up on my Caller ID.

I have no debts that would need me to deal with these people so I do not know why they are calling me.

Gee, do you work for these blood suckers?

They are NOT willing to work with you.  They are hired guns, paid to make threats and annoy people.

How nice that you can sit there and pass judgment on other people when you don't know their situation!

I just received a call from the number which is why I googled it.  The woman on the phone was very unclear spoke really fast said they wanted to talk to me and if it wasn't me to please disconnect the call.  I had to listen 4 times to make out the number.  When I called back a woman answered when I asked her who I was calling age hung up on me.  I called a few times after and the call just ends I don't get anyone.  Very weird and unprofessional.

If you gave out your work phone number on a store credit card or other personal credit card they use it...I filed a complaint because I never signed to release my information to a 3rd party.

I to did not mind the doubt collectors at first ,until I got one who clam to say I owed some money and if I did not pay was going to jail, and so my mother who answered the phone did not know better and paid for a doubt I did not have ,when I found out I called the state police and they after investigated told me it was a scam ,that  my mother is now out all that money that she paid for a doubt that did not exist, so I am telling people do not pick up the phone or  if they tell you to pay ,it is a scam just to hangup and block the number .cause if people are to lazy to work hard for their money they I say they should all rout in jail when cought, but I stead they hassle people who do work hard for the pay,and even the elderly ,people are so sick.so please people wake up and pay attention .

The reason people are pissed off is because they dont have any bills to collect and they still call. When you pick up the phone and press 0 the guy hangs up on you. After getting these calls for 3 or 4 months for no apparent reason, people tend to get pissed off.

Also by the way i checked my credit report and there is no collections on there. They have been known to try to charge people for a bill that has been paid already!! So be careful with this company!! Ask them for company you owe the money to.

Better yet, tell them to follow the law by mailing you proof of the debt. Phone calls, along with texts, faxes and emails, are not legal methods of debt validation.

There is no need to do any of that if you have taken the time to learn your rights under the law.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
