Call back due to the fact that I did get a letter from the IRS saying a collection agency would contact me. when I called back they said the number had been changed and to press one. I pressed one and a gentleman from another country answer the phone I will not give information to them. hopefully they follow the federal guidelines of collections like sending a notice from them in the mail. So beware I believe this number is a scam.

The IRS is getting as lazy as some states.   well if you don't leave a message or identify yourself then you don't get a call back.   Subcontracting on debts the IRS can't collect or should not be able to collect. If you take money out due to hardship you should not be taxed on it.

Exact same deal with me. IMO if it's that important the fruitcakes will leave a message...# blocked!

They call sometimes 4 times daily. I have them blocked, saw they called yet again so I called back...they answered saying CBE Group and asked for my name and the first 5 of my ss#...said they would tell me the last 4 numbers. I hung up. Supposedly collector for the IRS,  I'll wait on a letter.

Got called 2-3 a week for about 2wks before I finally answered. They are looking for someone named Venessa when I had this number for almost 7 years...

Asked me for my ssn and address. I said I'm not comfortable giving that out and if you are legit, you would have that already.  Could not tell me what the debt was for or what tax year. This is a scam.

Just curious ---  It would be interesting to see how many folks who considered to hire Comcast (Xfinity) as their new phone carrier ?  --  My guess is Xfinity might be reissuing  the phone numbers of their former deadbeat customers ! ---   Is that possible, FCC ?

They have been calling my phone for the past week. I picked up and said “hi who is this and why do you keep calling me?” And they hung up.

How many times a week do you get home phone calls from the likes of

CBE GROUP
Diversified Consultants
Sallie Mae/Navient
MIDLAND CREDIT et al. ?

And are you a customer of Xfinity (Comcast) ?

Just curious --- It would be interesting to see how many folks, who have considered hiring Comcast (Xfinity) as their new phone carrier, receive a bulk load of these pest-calls ?

My guess is Xfinity must be reissuing the phone numbers of their former deadbeat customers !

These 'formers' are probably in collection status yet new phone customers are issued those same numbers by Xfinity and then they become the 'red meat' badgered by the myriad of collection agencies !

First, is this a possible scenario, FTC ?

If this is the case, what are you going to do for us ?

Said they were IRS collections. Wanted to verify my SS # through some service. They told me I would receive a letter from the IRS stating how much I owed I haven't received one. They keep calling, even though I told them the IRS doesn't call people especially at night.

Do you seriously believe that phone carriers have never reissued phone numbers in the past?  My God just reading your post gave me a headache.  I've got a roll of real tin in the garag.  You can make it into a hat.

This man called me and told me that he worked for a collection company called CBE Debt Group
And that I should have received a letter from the IRS about money that I owe them and that his company was hired to collect the money.This ass thinks I was born last night. Beware this
phone no. And company is a scam !!! first of all the IRS Never Hires A Collection Co to do what they do very well. Do not be a victim you've been fore warned.
