- JimGot this "Congratulations on Your New Home" postcard today. Mortgages are public record, so the scammers are using these publicly-available address to send their spam. Like others, this shows a logo for "US Airlines" whose apparent motto is "Fly the US Skies." "Claim: 2 Roundtrip Airfares (Plus , A 7 Day Car Rental)" Of course I'm not calling them.

- Andro| 1 replyI received a postcard that said "US Airlines...Fly the US Skies." It said that I should call 1-800-809-6310 to claim 2 Roundtrip Airfares, plus a 7-day car rental. Before calling the number, I googled US Airlines/"Fly the US Skies" and found this site. After reading a few comments, I thought "Oh what the heck" and tried calling just to see if I got the same long pause or endless ringing that other people got when they called. Somebody answered when I called and said he was with a promotional company that will give me what the card said I would get, plus three nights in a hotel, if I attend a 90-minute travel presentation. It's probably a timeshare presenation where some real intense sales-person tries to get me to buy some. I asked the man on the phone if there was any scam, and he said no, all I have to do is attend the presentation. I believed him, because I have heard of people doing this before. As long as you don't fall into buying timeshare, or whatever else they are trying to sell you in the presentation, you should be okay. Because whether you buy or not, you receive whatever they promised you. You might have to attend another presentation while on the vacation, but I don't think letting someone try and twist my arm for 90 minutes would ruin a free vacation for me.
I probably would have gone to the presentation and claimed my vacation, keeping a close eye on any small print on anything I had to sign. The only problem was you have to be between the ages of 25 and 70. The second I told the guy I was only 22, he had nothing more to do with me and was very quick to get off the phone.
Oh well. - JRI received a postcard offer of "free round trip Airline tickets for two from any Airport in the US to any Airport in the US". We called and learned that we would need to go to "a no pressure to purchase" presentation lasting 90 min. Was sent a letter confirming this and listing what we would receive for attending, which included not only the Airline tickets but 2 nights hotel accomodations and a free 7 day car rental. We went. When we did not buy we were given a contract with more hoops to jump through and disclaimers than it would be worth, including the submission or $175 refundable fee paid as US Postal money order before we even started. We would be paying all kinds of fees and taxes not included in the offer, etc. I think you get the point. The time o the travel is up to them and they can change airports and rental locations to suit themselves. Everything has to be handled by mail which gives you little chance to get questions answered. You must use the travel in order to get your refund of the $175 back. I wonder just how many people send this in and just give up after the frustration of the back and forth through the mail. None of this was as represented in the initial card or following phone call or confirmation letter. We did not learn of the conditions until after we attended the presentation. I consider this a scam.

Don't call and give them your number! - Donna| 1 replyI received an official looking mail complete with WARNING message. It contained a card appearing to be a boarding pass from "US Airlines Fly the US Skies" Boarding Pass 1 with a frequent flyer number, e-ticket number, flight number, confirmation number, and seat number. On the back of the card was written "Travel Provider: World Wide Travel 3509 NW Valley View Place Blue Springs, MO 64015". The message instructed me to call 1-800-809-6310 for details. I suspected a scam so I had someone else call the number and it was a call center. I reported the mail scam to http://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx
- Blueeyed BettyI received the same piece of junk mail. I knew that this was to good to be true. I just got back from India and was thinking that it could be true, but then realized that I didn't fly with US Airlines. Wow, what a bomber! I had plans with these tickets. Now back to the drawing board (as I tossed this piece of junk in the trash). Thank you guys for this website, all your input and thanks to google for being such a great search engine.

- Z replies to Lu Lu| 2 repliesHey guys watch out for people who work for the company. Some kind of PR reps. They has a few post under different names and not just on this site. THE WHOLE THING IS A SCAM!! Actually, these guys write reviews on sites like this and if they only wrote good things it would stink... but they write about things that "aren't that bad" i.e. gas card not making it, dates that were hard to get, and not be able to get in touch with someone. All this to down play that once you call they use your phone # from caller ID and sell it. You also confirm that you are who the letter says you are. That way it is more valuable to resell your contact info. And the small expense to them is the few suckers that actually go through with this have to be dumped off on some timeshare company. Believe me I work for a law firm that deals with this stuff all the time. Hope this helps!! If you do get suckered in, retain an attorney and sue. These guys are sick and need to feel the crunch a bit.
- DKC, Arlington, VA replies to Tom VGot mine today. Identical text & graphics. The only variable is the so-called "offer number". Anyone who believes that this is a bona fide gift (round-trip air fare from where to where, by the way?) probably deserves to learn the hard way that there is no free lunch.
