- mohkasim1984| 1 replyI just got a message in the mail with this phone number on it. It says "vehicle protection department" on the paper and they are requesting I renew my vehicle protection plan. I have never contacted them before nor purchased any plans. May be the previous car owner did
- Caller: Vehicle protection department
- Jimmy O.Mohkasim1984 they send these to everyone they want to sell you an extended warranty.
- Caller: 800-813-1998
- No DummyAlso got the same mailing. Fine print says AutoCare, 851 International Parkway, Richardson, TX. Company has numerous complaints with Better Business Bureau. Buyer beware if you get an auto "warranty" from one of these companies who send out mailings to anyone and everyone.
- Caller: AutoCare
- same probI got the same letter. I got one from them three years ago and they told me i had to give them my account info over the phone. That stopped me right there. If I can't get information done in person then i don't need it.

- Charles on Cape CodThey didn't call me but I googled their number. It seems like a scam to me. The last line on the mailing was
AutoCare, 851 International Parkway, Richardson, TX. - Purchased 2010I got one of these notices too. What they don't know is that I purchased an extended warranty from the dealership for my Ford Transit Connect when I bought the car new. That was how I knew this wasn't from Ford. All though the notice never said it was from Ford or a dealership.

- LizThey called me to say my vehicle warranty had expired, which was a flat out lie. Then they tried to sell me a new warranty. I called my dealership to confirm my coverage was still valid (which it is). They also told me I was not the first person to call with a similar story about this company.

- TeeKeep sending us letters about a car that someone crashed into and totaled earlier this year so doesn't even exist.... it would have still been under warranty anyway. Sounds like scammers to me.
- Caller: AutoCare
- cassI get snail mail from them all the time--never had anything to do with them--I'm thinking they get their info from BMV--my warranty was with the manufacturer in 2006, new--obviously it's run out--jerks
- Smarter than the THIEVING SCAMMERSGot the snailmail SCAM letter today. KNEW it was bogus because it was in my husband's name and the car is owned/registered/insured in MY name and my name ONLY.
There are articles about this SCAM on the FTC website.
THIEVES!- Caller: "AUTOCARE" (SCAM!)

- ameliaGot notice in mail from these people claiming my factory warranty expiring. It sounds threatening, but at the bottom in the fine print it states "this is an offer for a motor vehicle service contract. Not affiliated with the dealer or manufacturer". This is a scam attempting to scare you into purchasing a warranty from them. I never contracted with them, mine is covered by the dealer & manufacturer, at no cost to me. They get info about your auto from motor vehicle offices. DO NOT RESPOND TO THEM, THROW THE LETTER IN THE TRASH AND DO NOT CALL THEM TO RESPOND!!
- Caller: AutoCare
- Call type: Telemarketer
- OrlandoDeclined their offer and was told "have fun paying for your repairs when your car breaks down".

- JoeIts a scam. I got a flyer in the mail (6/2/14). The flyer is all about factory warranty etc.
1st. This mail did not come from Volvo
2nd. They are playing the fear card……..which never works on me.
1-800-813-1998……..SCAM - Peeved| 1 replyGot a mailing; one of the sides of the exterior said "2nd Attempt," which right away made me think it was a scam (surprise, I was right). At least they admit (albeit in small print on the bottom) that they're a third-party, although of course they don't bother putting their company name on the mailing. I cant' wait for July 11 to come, which is when the "offer" expires, although they will probably just start mailing me a new "offer". Part of me wants to call them and tell them to take me off of their mailing list, but that would most likely be a waste of breath.

- kathleenThey told me they would give me a Hardship deal so I wouldn't hang up... They didn't want me to think about it. They said people who hang up only call back do so only when their car is broken...the truth is they didn't want me to google their business. I wanted to know how they got my name. They kept lowering their price which was scary but a hard sell. It was really tempting. They play into your fear. Who are they?
- DavidI almost fell into a scam. I called the number on a letter that i received in mail that said 2nd attempt. They wanted to provide me with extended warranty package on my new truck. They told me my warranty expires 7/25/2014. They wouldn't let me off the phone so I could discuss it with my wife. I got to thinking about my warranty doesn't expire until 2016+. I'm glad I called my auto dealer. I had no clue it was my first new vehicle.

- Brenda| 3 repliesI just talked with someone yesterday and they did get all my information and said they will send my policy after they take $150.00 as a down payment on 8/15/14. Then I would make monthly payments of $79.65 afterwards. Should I call my bank and have this transaction stop. Please advise!

- Mike-in-MD replies to BrendaThese third party after warranty vehicle protection plans are rarely if ever worth the money. They have more exceptions and reasons not to pay for a "covered repair" than a Swiss Cheese has holes. You cannot tell until you receive a written copy of the plan and then read all the fine print. By the time you do, you find out that you are past the deadline to cancel and have your money returned. You are probably still within the "buyers remorse" period to cancel but good luck with that. They will tell you anything to keep you from canceling. Depending exactly how you set up payments to occur, you may be able to block or cancel the transactions with your bank. If not you may have to cancel the card or close the account you used to set up payment arrangements. If you do really want this kind of coverage for after the warranty has expired, contact the dealership you bought the vehicle from or the manufacturer.
Here is a link to the USA.gov website article about these plans.
