800-813-8202

A woman called my house and left a message on my answering machine which stated she got my number from an email contest sponsored by the state in which there were prizes in excess of $500.  She said that she was part of a Third-Party Verification Company and that I needed to call a "Ted Edwards" at 800-813-8202.  I do not remember filling out a contest entry form sponsored by the state.  This number sounds bogus.  

I called the number to see if anyone answered, but no one did.  I got the voicemail and it said that it was the voicemail of "Chad Edwards" and that he was from a verification service.

Note:

The caller's voice did not sound authentic.  I sounded as if it was a recording.  I did some searching online for the number and came across "Chad Edwards" and the 800 number listed above, and other people have received similar phone calls.  Sounds like a scam to me.

I received the same message today and I also think it's bogus!!!!

I got this same call today.  Not sure if legimate (doubt it).  Will continue looking for more information online.

I called from a work phone and got a machine saying to leave a  name for chad to call back.

Be careful here.

I just checked my voicemail and received the exact same message.  I found it VERY ODD that it never stated my name.  I wouldn't trust it.

Wow, I just googled the # and saw all this, I just got the same phone call pertaining to this Chad Edwards. Watch out it is probably a scam!!

received a call from this number on 10/16/07-same Chad Edwards garbage...I have no idea what kind of scam this is...These people should go out and get an education and earn their money the right away...and LEAVE US ALONE!

Same deal...got a call from a woman claiming to be a third party vendor, and that i should call "Ted Edwards" at 1-800-813-8202 as i they were notified that i won a prize in advance of $500 for filling out some "safe register" questionnaire.  i was surprised that they didn't say my name either on the message which tipped me off that it was bogus as well.  May they rot in hell.  Thank God for websites like this one where i can look before i leap.
