- perezU bloody scammers.
- Call type: Debt collector
- PissedOff| 2 repliesReceived a call from this number regarding some type of litigation and check fraud charges against me. They represent CashNetUSA which I admit I did take a loan from almost 8 years ago. I paid the loan back in full and I even have a PIF letter somewhere, but have since changed banks. I do not owe them any money. The lady was VERY VERY rude.

https://800notes.com/arts/Jb8EW-eDhQA/harassi ... ou-need-to-know - Upset Person| 1 replyReceived a call to my work for a past employee and was verbally accosted by the operator. I asked for my number to be removed from their list. She kept calling me "ignorant". She kept repeating over and over again "does that person still work there, yelling "YES OR NO". I stated I was not HR and had no way of answering that question. She again angrilly repeated her question a few more times, practically yelling at me the whole time and calling me ignorant. She then refused to take my name off the call list.

- Mike-in-MD replies to Upset PersonReport the call to your company's HR office and legal office. If the calls continue, your company's legal office can take action against them.
- Nic-Out replies to PissedOffAccording to this BBB report that I came across, it is fairly likely that whoever is calling you DOES NOT legitimately represent CashNetUSA:
Consumer Alert!
According to reports received by BBB, the scammers accuse the victim of defaulting on a payday loan and claim they are being sued. The phony debt collector threatens that, if the victim doesn’t pay as much as $1,000 immediately via wire or by providing bank account or credit card numbers, he or she will be arrested. The scammers often have the victim’s Social Security, old bank account numbers or driver’s license numbers as well as home addresses, employer information and even the names of personal friends and professional references.
BBB is unable to locate the persons responsible for the phony debt collection calls. The scammers claim to be debt collectors for US Cash Advance and CashNetUSA. US Cash Advance is the name of an actual company with a retail store location in Florence, KY. US Cash Advance and its employess are not affiliated with the persons conducting this phony debt collection scam. US Cash Advance does not issue loans over $450, does not collect debts over the telephone and will not ask you to repay a debt via wire transfer. Click here for the separate BBB report on US Cash Advance. CashNetUSA is the name of an actual company headquartered in Fort Worth, TX. Click here for the separate BBB report on CashNetUSA. Neither CashNetUSA nor its employess are affiliated with the persons conducting this phony debt collection scam.
BBB offers the following advice to consumers if they receive a suspicious telephone call about an outstanding debt:
• Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
• Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
• File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws.
http://www.bbb.org/cincinnati/business-review ... ti-oh-90002652/ - JmellLeft threatening message on my recorder with 800-829-3688 to call. Upon calling, Mr Hoffman answered and gave us details about the persons account, which is NOT us. He then retracted his statement and began screaming that since we knew the person we should pay the account. When I refused, he told me to hang up - then he began pushing buttons on the phone so as to disrupt the conversation. I told him to mail the court summons to us IF he had the address. He hung up, then called back using my first name and threatened to call my office (which has no relationship to the person named on his account, and happens to be closed for the holidays). I called the 800 back and Mr Vernon Wells from the "pre-legal" dept answered the phone. I explained the situation and requested my phone number be removed. He assured me that he would take care of it. From the conversation, he was certainly NOT a legal representative with legal knowledge.
Don't let this collection agency harrass you! They have no jurisdiction whatsoever, unless YOU give them your bank or cc information. It's a scam. Don't get taken.- Caller: United Credit Management Corp

- Susan BatemanThis person is demanding payment in one half hour for something that was paid off years ago. They must get the info from previous payday loans. They are very nasty people, threatening court action, etc.

- Mean People StinkLike everyone else listed we are being harrassed. The information they have is 7 years old. The man calling is rude, he screams and hangs up and calls back. We haven't gotten a call blocker. He won't send a copy of the summons, or warrant and he won't tell us his company name or what court the issue is held in. We had an attorney friend call the number back and it rang 30 times and no one answered and there was no voice mail.

- Too Smart To Fall For That| 4 repliesI received a private call from Alex Peterson, what kind of name is that? She mentioned my county and incorrectly said it, it is a very common name for an older person. She then said she had a subponea, excuse the spelling, for me to sign. She said I had 48 hours to respond before it goes to court and GOOD LUCK. She then calls my other number and speaks to someone. She tells them who she is and where she works. She says the name so fast, all I could get National ??? Couriers. She refuses to repeat the name and once again pronounces the county incorrectly. She gives the number 18008293688 to call. I could have promised I blocked this number already. I not falling for this anxiety attack again. If I dont see someone in person in the next 48 hours, I will write this off as bs.

- DanielleC| 2 repliesThis number is calling me repeatedly, threatening subpoena and charges of check fraud and defrauding a government agency for an old, closed payday loan account. Every day they threaten to send someone to my home and place of work to serve me papers. They have my name incorrect as well, this account was supposedly charged off in 2008. They have given me several business names, as well as several different people calling me, one of which changed her own name twice. They have also claimed 2 different counties. Has anyone dealt with these people? Are they seriously going to send someone to my house?

- Danielle C replies to Too Smart To Fall For That| 1 replyDid anyone ever show up? I am getting the same threats. They are stating two different counties, calling me daily threatening to press charges of fraud and defrauding a government agency. I have gotten more than one business name, but they call from the same number
- Vicky| 3 repliesCalled me today and left message saying it was in regard to check fraud. Said his name was William Stine with UCM. Even left a reference number for when I called ack. Thats not going to happen! I will respond when the threatened legal papers are received.

- Predatory Debt CollectorsI received a call from a "Restricted" (Blocked) phone number, I didn't answer. They left a message saying they were a process server for Los Angeles County, saying the law required them to inform me of their intent to serve me with a subpoena. They said to call (800) 829-3688 and refer to such-and-such docket number to clear it up.
However, the audo of that message was so garbled and full of dropouts that I couldn't make out some parts of the message. This tells me it's probably some overseas call center using a sub-standard VoIP connection to intimidate the people they're calling. Yes, I had some debt in the distant past, but I know the statute of limitations laws regarding that, and it's long since passed. So to you predatory debt collectors threatning me with a legal summons, I say "BRING IT ON, M%#@ER F@%#ERS!"- Caller: United Credit Management

- JorgeA man called from this number saying I had a debt . They called several of my family members. I called back the extension and no one answered. This is fishy, if they want action they can send a notice by mail. They need to stop calling.
