I also cancelled my subscribtion with Az Republic, after asking them twice to stop calling me!  That must be what it is because I never get phone numbers from people I dont know!

They've tried calling me at least 5 times in the last 24 hours. I haven't answered their calls but called the number back and got a recorded message identifying them as the Arizona Republic. Since I'm registered on the Do Not Call list and told them not to call me over 30 days ago I attempted to file a complaint at www.donotcall.gov. Unfortunately, it has not been more than 18 months since I had a subscription with the company so they are allowed to continue to harass me all they want up until that time. Ridiculous.

Make sure you check with your phone carrier, MOST carriers will allow you to BLOCK a certain number of phone numbers from getting through to you. I have CentruyLink land-line service, and they let me block up to 25 separate phone numbers. worth a shot, best of luck folks....

Just got a call from these jokers.  He said he was from my local newspaper (didn't say which one).  I told him I was on the do not call list so why was he still calling.  He said he was going to give me $300 plus my local newspaper (still didn't say which one).  I said I wasn't interested and demanded to know why he was violating the do not call list.  He hung up.

I called back and found out it's the Arizona Republic.  The last time those jerks called I told them I was on the do not call list,  I was told I had to remove my phone number myself and was quickly transferred into an endless phone tree before I could even respond.

I got a call from them yesterday at 8:00pm Arizona time.  I didn't answer.  I had this same number on my caller ID when I got home from work.  So, I decided to call the number back at 8:00pm today.  I got a recording that said, "You have reached us after normal business hours.  Please call back during our normal business hours.  Thank You!"  No mention of what their normal business hours are or what "company" you've called.  If they call back again, I'm going to threaten them with a lawsuit for violating the Do Not Call Registry.  All of my numbers, including my cell #s, have been listed there for several years.  I'm tired of getting their calls at all hours of the day!  They will STOP, or else!

Don't register with the DO NOT CALL LIST--that list is given to merchants so they will know not to call--HA! who is going to turn down a viable list of phone users?? Reporting offenders does absolutely no good--another government agency that doesn't work!!

I cancelled my subscription to AZ Republic almost a year ago.  Once in a while, I would get this phone number.  When I call back after a few minutes, I get the "after business hours" recording and no company is mentioned.  I finally decide to call back right after.  It was the AZ republic.  As soon as I heard the "AZ Republic" name from the caller, I hung up.  They have been wanting me to resubscribe since I cancelled the subscription a year ago.  I only subscribed to it thinking that it would be easier if I just subscribed a couple of days a week.  No such luck.
