recorded message saying to call regarding my account and then mentioned an account number. A sept 9 posting says its a collection agency but I know I do not owe, nor am I or have ever been late on payment.
Note: calling on my office line.

recorded message with an acct# saying to call this 800 #. Call was received on a Sunday on my cell phone. Called the # on Thurs. and the person that answered said that they were getting ready to leave for the day. I hung up and tried to call again, thinking that I would get another person and the same person answered so I hung up. I called the # at 15 minutes till 9:00 pm
Who is this number?

They called simultaneously on my home number (caller ID) plus my cell phone and left voicemails that I need to call them back.  I have ignored these calls since I know I filed BK but creditors can't harrass me.  They call me on Sundays, Sunday afternoon, Saturdays and evenings.  I tried calling these people back finally today to identify them and the phone number rings and rings and rings, no answer.

This is CCA, it is a collections agency.  
I know Earthlink hires them to do their collections.  
Unfortunately I had to deal with them directly regarding a past due work account.  I had no idea our manager was sitting on the invoices and Earthlink not once called to see why we were not paying.  It went 3 months past due before CCA started calling.  
The good thing was, for the first time I called them back, they cut the bill completely in half and settled.  CCA automatically marks the overdue amount up by 20%.  Then they cut the entire owed amount in half.  If you can put up with their rude, no personality employees, you may save quite a bit of money on your current overdue amount.

We have been getting calls from this #, saying urgent to call back about this important matter, thanks for the other posts.  We haven't made any late payments.  I would like for this company to stop calling us.

A  woman called my mother's house and asked for my phone number. She said that she was a business associate of mine and told my mom that she has "heard so much about you." That's a little creepy to say the least. It is possible that this is a collection agency for Earthlink. I cancelled my account in July and was told that a qualified for 1 months service for free. At the end of my "free month" I received another call from Earthlink advising that my payment was late. I explained to them that I had cancelled my service in July. They did not have that in their records so I was transferred to another CS Rep and cancelled my account AGAIN. They still didn't cancel it. Probably just another ploy to squeeze every last dime they can get out of people.

SB, I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM with Earthlink!!! It is the WORST company I've EVER dealt with, hands down!!! I cancelled my account with them over six months ago, yet they keep sending bills. I have sent them all sorts of proof that the account is cancelled, yet they keep harrassing me. Contacting their customer service reps is pointless, I've been cursed at and dealt with in an incredibly rude and hostile manner by these people, most of whom have very heavy, almost indecipherable accents. Now they've evidently contacted a collections agency. What can we do about this HORRIBLE company?? If anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. Thanks.

Earth link calls me...I don't owe them a [***] thing. It is a confusing link with embarq and earthlink since I had no choice but to switch companies.
Earth link is no longer available to this area, but the harassing calls are.
I have been switched for two(2)years now..

Been calling my home asking for somebody else.  I have asked them to stop to no avail.  I called them back it is CCA collections. I asked for their address so I could file complaint with the FTC, collection agent said it would do no good to file a complaint said she didnt like my attitude and hung up. What a bunch of jerks, no consideration for people....

I kept getting calls from this number as well.. So I finally picked up and they asked for my husband. I wouldnt let them talk to him so I took down thier "info".. only numbers and I asked what this company was, she said it was for a business opportunity for my husband and she didnt want to talk to me about it.. I called back later to ask what her company did and I got a very rude person, saying thier company did alot of things.. and she never would tell me what CCA was or why they would call us. She asked for my phone number and I said I would not give out my number until she told me what this "company" was about or the services they provided. She was quite rude and hung up on me. We are not late on any bills...  So, we still dont know why they are calling constantly. I looked up this company on the BBB and they are not affiliated with them.. this company is also had over 185 complaints in 3 years and 88 in the last 3 months.. so that tells you something about them..

these people are a pain the the ass.  do not call them back. if its urgent a live person will talk too you.   i've had 6 call already and dont let your curiosity get the better of you.

"Me too." They've been auto-dialing on and off for two years despite the fact that I'm in the Do Not Call registry. Best I can figure is that the prior holder of my phone number has a bad debt. However, when I did call to tell them their phone calls were legally actionable and that they should stop, they started demanding enough information from me that I began to suspect they were actually an identity-theft ring rather than a collection agency.

If anyone knows Lucy Entsweme (guessing at spelling from their voice-synth message), tell her to pay her bill.

Multiple messages left on answering machine -- at least 10 to 15.  Says only that "this is December 15th" and I must return call by end of day on December 16th.  Since it's April, this is obviously some sort of scam or hoax. I just want the calls to stop.  If this is a collection agency connected to Earthlink, as another reporting site indicated, I've had no connection to them.

I have the same experience. Earthlink failed to cancel my account, kept billing me month after month, then, when I finally got them to stop, tried to tack on another month to the bill AFTER cancellation. I laughed it off, and they immediately passed it on to CCA, which has been auto-calling to get their $19. Probably I will end up paying them just to make them stop, so I guess they can call it a "victory." I certainly will advise people not to sign for earthlink under ANY circumstances. What a sad, desperate company... My mistake not to have looked up all the complaints about them before signing up.

We cancelled with Earthlink over two years ago and they now have a collection company calling us!  We cancelled with them over the phone, sent a letter of cancellation and finally had to cancel the debit card they had on file.  Stay away from Earthlink - they are nuts!!!!
